MyFantasyLeague.com Down For Hardware Upgrade On Feb. 27, 2am-6am ET (Published Sun Feb 24 2:07:52 p.m. ET 2008)
All MyFantasyLeague.com leagues will be unavailable on Wednesday, February 27, 2008, between 2am and 6am ET for a hardware upgrade. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause you and your league-mates. Please contact us if you have any questions regarding this hardware upgrade.
2008 Leagues Are Now Available - Purchase Now To Save $20! (Published Thu Feb 7 12:49:57 p.m. ET 2008)

We're happy to announce the availability of 2008 leagues on MyFantasyLeague.com. This newsletter will detail how you can upgrade your 2007 league to 2008, common questions associated with this upgrade, and how to save $20 on your 2008 league purchase.

To upgrade your 2007 league to 2008, simply go to your 2007 league home page at http://football.myfantasyleague.com/2007/home/29550 , log in as the league commissioner, and follow the instructions displayed at the top of that page. With one mouse click, you'll be up and running for 2008.

If you have follow-up questions regarding this upgrade process, please be sure to read the email that you'll get after upgrading, and check out our FAQ, available from your "Help > How To Get Additional Help" page, in the "Setup" category - there are answers to several common upgrade questions there.

Since the full 2008 NFL schedule will not be announced until mid-April, for now we've set up all 2008 leagues to use a "dummy" NFL schedule. Keep that in mind when looking at 2008 NFL matchups. Once the NFL schedule is announced, we'll update your 2008 league to use that real schedule.

The 2008 NFL draft is not until the end of April, so for now we've added the top 100 expected draftees to our 2008 player database as free agents. Once you upgrade to 2008, if you'd like owners in your league to be able to see these potential draftees, you need to make sure that your league is set up to allow owners to view NFL free agents on the "For Commissioners > Setup > Appearance Setup > Other Appearance Settings" page. And as we have in the past, we'll update our player database based on the actual NFL draft results, too.

Finally, once you've upgraded to 2008, you can use the "For Commissioners > $$ Purchase League $$" option to place your order for 2008. Full pricing details can be found at http://www.myfantasyleague.com/fantasy-football-get-started/fantasy-football-purchase-now.php , but be sure to order before June 10th, 2008, to take advantage of our $20 early bird discount offer.

As always, please let us know if you have any comments, questions or suggestions for the site!

Offseason Planning & Notes (Published Wed Dec 26 7:58:40 a.m. ET 2007)

All of us at MyFantasyLeague.com wish you and your family a happy holiday season!

With sixteen weeks of football in the books, most leagues are tying up their fantasy football playoffs, and starting to think about the off-season and next year. The following are a few miscellaneous notes for your league during the offseason:

  • Free NFL Playoffs Leagues. Just because the NFL regular season is almost over doesn't mean that your fantasy football season needs to be over! We're offering free NFL Playoffs leagues again this year to help with those who are looking for a few more weeks of fantasy football action.
  • Testing New Rules. To ensure that you don't corrupt your 2007 league, please avoid making any changes to your recently-completed league scoring rules or other league rules.  Instead, use the My Leagues > Set Up A New League option to create and test as needed.  When finished, use the Setup > Schedule This League For Removal page to schedule the league for removal.
  • Using Your League In The Offseason.  Your league will be available for the entire offseason.  While all owners can use it to review league history, dynasty league owners can also continue to perform waivers and trades during the offseason.
  • Keeping Your Email Current. This Spring we'll once again send an email out to all our commissioners to let you know about our early-bird league discounts. If your email address changes in the next few months, please remember to update it on your For Commissioners > Setup > General League Setup page so you can be sure to receive any announcements.
  • 2008 Leagues. In 2007, we started offering leagues in late February - our goal is to match, or possibly even beat, that timeframe for this year. If you need to start a new league before then, use the My Leagues > Set Up A New League to create a new 2007 league that can be upgraded later to a 2008 league without losing any of your setup information.
  • Data Retention Policy. As we grow, and more data accumulates on our servers, we've found the need to eliminate some old, less frequently accessed data from our historical leagues. To that end, in February, 2008, when we start offering 2008 leagues, we will be deleting the following league data from our servers for 2006 and prior seasons:
    • Message Board Posts
    • League Polls
    • Pool Picks
    • Transaction Histories
If you have the need to keep any of the above data for historical reasons, please use your web browser's "File > Save As..." option to save the web page in question to your local hard drive. Note that this does not in any way affect your recently-completed 2007 league, and does not in any way affect key league data (standings, franchise scores, matchup results, player scores, etc.) from 2006 and prior year leagues. Please see this page for all MyFantasyLeague.com policies.

We're happy to announce our free NFL Playoffs leagues that run from the Wild Card games in week 18 through the Super Bowl in week 21. For more details on how to run a NFL Playoffs fantasy football league, see this page.

If you'd like to run an NFL playoff league with us, please choose one of the options below.

If your NFL playoff league is...

  • substantially different than your regular-season league containing different franchises and/or rules, then you can setup a new playoff league at any time.
  • a fresh start for your regular-season league using the same teams and rules, but different rosters, then you should use the My Leagues > Set up an NFL Playoff League Based On This League menu item at any time.
  • identical to your 2006 NFL Playoffs league that you had wih us, first find your 2006 NFL Playoffs league, and then from that league, use the My Leagues > Upgrade this NFL playoff league to a 2007 NFL playoff league menu item from that playoff league.
  • an extension of your regular-season league using the same teams, rules, and rosters, then you should STOP and wait until your regular season has ended. Once your regular season has ended, you can then...
    1. create a copy of your regular season league by using the My Leagues > Set up an NFL Playoff League Based On This League menu item
    2. go to the new league and use the For Commissioners > Setup > Players and Rosters > Transfer Rosters page to transfer over your final, regular season rosters.

Using League Polls (Published Wed Dec 5 8:48:32 a.m. ET 2007)

If you have follow-up questions or suggestions based on this newsletter, please be sure to submit a support ticket to us via your Help > How To Get Additional Help page, rather than replying via email.

With the end of the fantasy season drawing nearer, many leagues are already thinking about tweaks to their existing rules for 2008. Others are considering running a free NFL playoff league (more on this in next week's message). Whatever the reason, the site's league polling feature offers commissioners a way to query for owner input.

By default both owners and the commissioner can create a league poll. Use the For Commissioners > Setup > Abilities Setup screen to remove this ability from the owners.

To define a new poll:

  1. Go to the Communications > League Polls page.
  2. Click on the link to [Create/Edit League Polls] and fill in the following information.
    • Poll Question. Use this initial field to specify your question.
    • Answer #1-10. List each poll answer or use the franchise name checkbox to make each name appear as one of the available poll answers.
    • Voting Time. Choose a date/time for the poll to end.
    • Multiple Answers. Only one poll answer is allowed by default. Check this box to allow for each franchise to choose more than one answer.
    • Hidden Results. Hide poll answers until poll is over.  If left unchecked, owners can see the current count for each poll answers after they place their individual vote.
    • Public/Private. Check this box to reveal how each franchise owner voted.  If enabled, mouse-over the value for each poll answer and hold briefly. A tool-tip will appear with the names of each franchise that voted for the corresponding poll answer.
    • Required. Check this box to force owners to answer the poll. Owners who do not answer a poll will not be able to submit their weekly lineup until they do.
  3. Click on the 'Save Poll' button. At this point, the poll will be accessible using the Communications > League Polls screen.
  4. To add the poll to your league's home page, go to the For Commissioners > Setup > Appearance Setup > Home Page Setup screen and add/position either the Newest League Poll or the 5 Newest League Polls home page modules. When using the Newest League Poll module, each new poll will push the previous poll off the home page thereby making it only accessible via the League Polls screen.

In addition to viewing all historical polls in the League Polls screen, this is also the place to go to edit any existing polls.

Don't forget, more information about running free NFL playoff leagues will be announced in next week's newsletter!

Fantasy Playoff Setup (Published Tue Nov 27 12:08:54 p.m. ET 2007)

As the regular fantasy season draws to a close for most leagues, you should start thinking about your fantasy playoffs. Fantasy playoffs are optional, but most leagues have them the last few weeks of the NFL regular season. Additionally, while you don't need to set up any playoff brackets until after your regular season has ended, you can get a head start on most of the setup now by following the instructions below.

  • Fantasy Playoff Types. There are five common ways to setup fantasy playoffs:
    1. Head to Head Bracket, Single-Elimination.
    2. Head to Head Bracket, Multi-Week.
    3. Multi-Way Matchups.
    4. Total Points.
    5. Combination.
Please see our Playoff Setup How To document for more information on each of these. Only the Head to Head, Single-Elimination requires any extra setup which is described below.
  • Determining the Playoff Parameters. Your first task is to decide how many teams will participate in your fantasy playoffs and then determine how many weeks and games will be needed. Generally speaking it's easier to always include an even number of franchises and only a subset of your teams. For example in a 12-team league, you might decide that only the top 4 or 6 teams will make the fantasy playoffs. Next, you'll need to specify which weeks to use to hold your playoffs including whether or not you want to include week 17 for your fantasy playoffs. Since many pro teams are already assured of their place in the NFL post-season, it's not uncommon for them to bench some of their top players for the week 17 games to prevent any injuries to these players. Of course, these are typically players found on fantasy starting lineups. If your league prefers to not schedule your championship for this reason, you'll want to ensure you finish your playoffs in week 16. However, if you feel that this is just an added part of the fantasy owner's risk, then you are also able to hold your championship game in week 17. The following table lists the number of matchups, weeks, bye teams, and starting weeks for some common number of playoff franchises.
    # Teams InvolvedStarting Week*# Games in Starting Week# Weeks Required# Bye Teams
    216110
    415220
    614232
    814430

*Assumes week 17 is not used (start one week later in order to end on week 17).

  • Option A: Packaged Bracket Setup
    • Select A Packaged Bracket.  Using the For Commissioners > Setup > Playoff Setup > Select A Packaged Playoff Bracket screen, leagues with common playoff brackets can set them up quickly.
  • Option B: Manual Bracket Setup
    • Define Your Playoff Parameters.  Go to the For Commissioners > Setup > Playoff Setup > General Playoff Setup screen to enter in your bracket information. Most leagues will only need one championship bracket (even with multiple divisions/conferences) and some will also include a loser bracket and/or a third place bracket. See the General Playoff Setup Help page for more information and some examples.
    • Specify Your Playoff Matchups. Once the bracket parameters have been defined and saved, the system will attempt to schedule the matchups for common configurations. If available (for common configurations), first view your current Reports > League > Playoff Brackets report to verify that the system-generated matchups are correct. You can also always use the For Commissioners > Setup > Playoff Setup > Playoff Schedule Setup screen to define/edit matchups.  Also see the Playoff Schedule Setup Help page for more information.
At this point, your preliminary playoff setup is complete.
  • Seed Your Playoff Teams.  Once your regular fantasy season ends, you will have to use the For Commissioners > Setup > Playoff Setup > Seed Playoff Teams screen to specify which franchise will occupy each bracket's seed position. Note that seed positions are unrelated across brackets so if you define a toilet bowl bracket, you'll still be choosing seeds 1,2,3, etc. for that bracket,... in addition to the championship seeds 1,2,3, etc.
  • Add Bracket(s) To Home Page.  Using the For Commissioners > Setup > Appearance Setup > Home Page Setup screen, you can add/position your now-defined brackets on your home page.
Writing League Articles (Published Tue Nov 20 9:45:44 p.m. ET 2007)

If you have follow-up questions or suggestions based on this newsletter, please be sure to submit a support ticket to us via your Help > How To Get Additional Help page, rather than replying via email.

One of the most enjoyable aspects of fantasy football is the trash talking with your league-mates, and "League Articles" are one of the many ways to trash-talk on MyFantasyLeague.com.

By default, both commissioners and owners are able to write league articles.  If you prefer to keep this feature only to yourself, go to the For Commissioners > Setup > Abilities Setup screen to uncheck this ability for all owners.

Writing a league article is a relatively simple process:

  1. Go to the Communications > League Articles page.
  2. Click on the link to Write A New Article and fill in the following information.
    1. Article Headline.  Specify a title for your article (up to 50 characters).
    2. Article Picture URL or Upload Article Picture.  Either specify the web address of an existing images on another web site (URL, starting with "http://") or upload an existing image from your local hard drive (must be less than 75 Kb) to accompany the article.
    3. Picture Caption.  Optionally write a brief caption for any defined article picture.
    4. Article Body.  Use the default WYSIWYG editor to define your article text here.
  3. Click on the 'Save Article' button.  At this point, the article will be readable using the Communications > League Articles page.
  4. To add the article to your league's home page, go to the For Commissioners > Setup > Appearance Setup > Home Page Setup screen and add/position either the Newest League Article or the Headlines For 5 Newest League Articles home page modules.  When using the Newest League Article module, each new article will push the previous article off the home page and into the League Articles page.

In addition to viewing all historical articles in the League Articles screen, this is also the place to go to edit any existing article.

Using the site's league article feature along with a little commissioner creativity, you can really add to the enjoyment of your league for all of your owners.

League Setup For Thursday Games (Published Tue Nov 13 10:42:31 p.m. ET 2007)

If you have follow-up questions or suggestions based on this newsletter, please be sure to submit a support ticket to us via your Help > How To Get Additional Help page, rather than replying via email.

Don't forget that again this season the NFL has scheduled Thursday games from week 12 (Thanksgiving Day) through week 16. These early games may affect your league's waiver and/or starting lineup rules.  To minimize any potential confusion for your owners, it's a good idea to verify your setup and ensure that it's defined as you had intended.

  • Starting Lineups.  If your league's lineup deadline as defined in the For Commissioners > Setup > Weekly Lineup Setup screen is:
    • Kickoff - all players must be started by the kickoff of the first game each Thursday.
    • Early - players in early games (Thursday-Saturday) are locked at kickoff of their individual game and all Sunday & Monday players must be submitted by Sunday at 1 pm ET.
    • Gametime - lineup submissions will continue as they have all season.
    • Calendar - be sure to have either 'Lineup Deadline For All Games' and/or 'Lineup Deadline For Thursday Games' defined in the For Commissioners > Setup > League Calendar Setup for each of weeks 12-16.
    • Please see the online help for more information.
  • Waivers.  If your league's waiver settings as defined in the For Commissioners > Setup > League Calendar Setup screen include:
    • A waiver event with an end time of "Kickoff of week xx" then be advised that kickoff of week 12 occurs Thanksgiving Day morning.
    • A waiver request or blind bidding waiver event that extends beyond Thursday morning, then waivers will not process in time for owners to include any player awards in their Thursday lineups.  You may want to use the League Calendar Setup to edit your week 12-16 waiver events.
    • Please see the online help for more information.
With a little time spent checking your settings now, you might be able to avoid any confusion next week.

Set Player Salaries Based On Blind Bidding Amounts - for leagues that are both salary cap leagues and use blind bidding, but have a fixed dollar amount to spend on bids throughout the season (rather than an amount that's a function of their current available cap space), there is a new option on the "For Commissioners > Setup > Transactions Setup > Blind Bidding Setup" page called "Do Winning Blind Bid Waiver Amounts Get Assigned As Player Salaries? Yes No".

NFL Statistics & Page Design Contest Update (Published Mon Oct 1 10:43:21 p.m. ET 2007)

If you have follow-up questions or suggestions based on this newsletter, please be sure to submit a support ticket to us via your Help > How To Get Additional Help page, rather than replying via email.

Here at MyFantasyLeague.com, we pride ourselves in not only the timeliness, but also the accuracy of the statistics we deliver to our customers each week. We report more than 100 individual player statistics for about 1500 NFL players, and over 90 team statistics for 32 NFL teams each week - that's a total of about 153,000 pieces of data we offer each week. Our goal for each of the 17 weeks of the NFL season (for a total of 2.6 million pieces of data) is to be 100% accurate in our reporting of that data.

On occasion, a statistics and/or scoring issue might arise that is not cut and dry for your league. For this reason we've created a couple of documents to help explain how MyFantasyLeague.com works with regards to statistics and special plays:

  • Statistics Lifecycle - review this document to learn about live scoring results, preliminary & final weekly results, and official NFL stat changes.
  • Special Plays - read this document to learn how MyFantasyLeague.com scores unique plays that your league may not have addressed in your league scoring.
  • Your league has a For Commissioners > Commissioner News > Strange Plays page detailing some of the various strange plays that happen in the NFL each week of the season, to make it easier to identify possible problems with your league scoring system.
  • Don't forget, live scoring is unofficial - and is not the final say in league scores. Once weekly scores are finalized (about an hour after the last game is over each week), you can view official league scoring results on your Weekly Results report, and not your live scoring pages.

When reviewing game tape, the NFL in conjunction with Elias Sports Bureau (the official statistician of the NFL) occasionally decides to change a statistic. Unfortunately, there is neither a clearly defined timeframe in which statistics changes are made, nor a single place to get information on these updates. Once we are made aware of an official change, we work with our stats providers to verify the change and then update your For Commissioners > Commissioner News > Official Statistics Changes page with the details. If you want to apply these stat changes to your league, use the For Commissioners > Statistics Changes menu item.

As a reminder, if you want faster live stat updates and enhanced features like audio announcements of touchdowns and turnovers, be sure to check out our free MyFantasyLeague GameDay 2007 program. It's a great way to view the live stats for all of the NFL games and fantasy games in your league!

In addition, don't forget that we've announced the 32 qualifiers in our Page Design Contest. If you're interested in seeing the qualifiers, and participating in the voting as we decide the winner of this contest, see this page.

Reminder - Page Design Contest Entry Deadline Is Monday! (Published Sat Sep 29 7:59:00 a.m. ET 2007)

Don't forget to nominate your league for our Page Design Contest - you can turn your creativity and hard work into cold, hard cash!

Please be sure to review all of the contest details here before entering, but once you have, if you'd like to enter, simply submit a support ticket to us by choosing the "Setup & Appearance" Category, and the "Advanced Customization" subcategory. NFL Practice Report, Page Design Contest, FantasySharks.com Player Pages, More. (Published Mon Sep 24 4:21:41 p.m. ET 2007)

If you have follow-up questions or suggestions based on this newsletter, please be sure to submit a support ticket to us via your Help > How To Get Additional Help page, rather than replying via email.

We've got a variety of site news for you this week.
  1. NFL Practice Reports - Now that we've had two weeks of the new NFL practice reports to look at, there are some obvious issues with them, including:
    • Practice reports are not issued in as a timely manner as injury reports are.
    • There are a wide variety of reasons a player could miss a Wednesday practice other than an injury.
To that end, effective today, you'll see the following changes on your league:
    1. A new Reports > NFL > Practice Report page, which will display the "raw" practice report designations from the practice reports that each team issues on Wednesdays, and not the translated status that we used for weeks 1 and 2.
    2. The label titled "Send Email For: NFL Injury Status Reported" on the "Advanced Franchise Setup" page has been updated to read "NFL Injury/Practice Status Reported" - meaning, the system-generated email that goes out on Wednesdays will now be called a "Practice Report", and not an "Injury Report", and it will include the practice report designations, rather than the injury report designations.
    3. Your weekly and monthly league calendars have been updated to reflect the fact that practice reports, and not injury reports, are issued on Wednesdays.
    4. If your league uses "Injured Reserve", and ties the ability to put/keep a player on IR to their official injury status, you'll notice a new field on the "For Commissioners > Setup > Transactions Setup > Injured Reserve Setup" page titled "Translate practice status to injury status? Yes/No". This option will default to "Yes", allowing you to keep having the system work the way it does now, allowing owners to deactivate players based on the Wednesday practice report. Changing this option to "No" will effectively allow your league to not factor in the Wednesday practice report, but instead carry over the previous week's Friday injury report for determining player IR eligibility. Note: Even if this option is left on the "Yes" setting, most league pages will continue to report Injury Status and not Practice Status, however, the Practice Status will be translated for the purposes of determining if a player can be deactivated to IR or not, per your league rules.
  2. Page Design Contest - Don't forget, starting today (Tuesday, September 25th), we're starting to accept nominations for our Page Design Contest - you can turn your creativity and hard work into cold, hard cash! Please be sure to review all of the contest details here before entering, but once you have, if you'd like to enter, simply submit a support ticket to us by choosing the "Setup & Appearance" Category, and the "Advanced Customization" subcategory. All entries must be received before Tuesday, October 2nd, 2007.
  3. FantasySharks.com Player Pages - Now, from the MyFantasyLeague.com player information report (that's the report you see when you click on a player's name), you'll see a link to the corresponding FantasySharks.com Player Page, which contains a ton of useful information about that player, including historical stats, projections, and more - see Peyton Manning's player page for an example.
  4. New "Golf" Skins - There is a new skin available on the For Commissioners > Setup > Appearance Setup > Select A Skin page called "Golf".

As always, please let us know if you have any questions, comments or suggestions based on this newsletter.

Customizing Your League's Appearance and Page Design Contest (Published Mon Sep 17 2:09:09 p.m. ET 2007)

MyFantasyLeague.com prides itself on the options we offer for league customization. Whether you are an Internet/computer novice or HTML/CSS programming guru, there are a number of ways to personalize your league.

If you have follow-up questions or suggestions based on this newsletter, please be sure to submit a support ticket to us via your Help > How To Get Additional Help page, rather than replying via email. Our support ticketing system allows us to respond to your questions and suggestions much faster than email does.

  1. Skins.  MFL has more than three dozen color/graphics schemes for the 2007 season which contain everything you need for a professional looking league home page as a complete package.  You can choose one skin for the entire season or switch as needed.  We've even included a number of holiday skins for various times of the year.  To preview and/or choose a skin, just go to the For Commissioners > Setup > Appearance Setup > Select A Skin page.
  2. Templates. New for 2007 are four templates, available on your For Commissioners > Setup > Appearance Setup > Select A Template page. Templates are packaged appearance options, like skins, plus custom vertical and horizontal menus, making it easier for your owners to get access to key league reports and options.
  3. Home Page Modules.  Working in conjunction with skins and templates are more than 50 (and growing) home page modules.   This wide variety of modules range from standings to message board posts to calendars to league chat rooms and are a excellent way for commissioners to include/exclude only the content useful for their own league.  Go to the For Commissioners > Setup > Home Page Setup screen to decide what home page modules to include and exclude. Also new for 2007 is the idea of a "tabbed" home page setup, where instead of having one long home page, you can create multiple tabs for organizing your league home page better. Also, check out the Reports > League > Embed League Data option which allows you to embed league home page modules on another web site, or right into your Google home page!
  4. Images.  Commissioners have the ability to define league logos (For Commissioners > Setup > Images & Other URLs), divisional logos (For Commissioners > Setup > Division/Conference Setup), as well as icons for each franchise (For Owners > Advanced Franchise Setup).   NOTE: Owners may define large franchise icons that appear on the league standings report.  You can use the For Commissioners > Setup > Appearance Setup > Icons Setup screen to define a maximum width or height (try 100 as a starting point for either value) to scale these images down.
  5. Menus.  Commissioners (and owners when allowed) can choose between the horizontal or vertical "modern" menus or the "classic" pull-down menus on the For Commissioners > Setup > Menu Setup screen.
  6. Custom HTML.  Through the use of 12 home page messages, owners can also place snippets of HTML code into various places on the home page to add everything from a simple applet to much more advanced page layouts.
  7. CSS. Using industry-standard CSS (Cascading Style Sheets), you have literally unlimited control over your league page appearance. See our Advanced Customization Guide on how to get started with this sometimes complex topic.
  8. XML. Another industry-standard, XML, allows you to get access to "raw" MyFantasyLeague.com data so that if you are a computer programmer, you can write your own programs to massage and display your league data in any way you'd like. See our export program documentation for more details.

One note of caution: With all the flexibility available, it's not uncommon for commissioners to add third party sports tickers or chat rooms or even league sounds.  While all of these can certainly dress up a league's home page, they also can adversely affect page load times (especially on live scoring days).   In general, any time your home page includes links to content outside of the MFL domain, your league also increases the risk of problem whenever that third-party site has problems.

Which brings us to another new for 2007 piece of news - if you've done a ton of customization work on your MyFantasyLeague.com site (more than just out-of-the-box skins and templates!), you should check out our Page Design Contest. In a nutshell, you can earn cold, hard cash for your creative designs! See this page for all of the details, including prizes, limitations, and how to enter.

Changes In The Official NFL Injury Report (Published Mon Sep 10 11:19:46 p.m. ET 2007)

If you have follow-up questions or suggestions based on this newsletter, please be sure to submit a support ticket to us via your Help > How To Get Additional Help page, rather than replying via email. Our support ticketing system allows us to respond to your questions and suggestions much faster than email does.

As you may be aware, the NFL injury report has been changed for the 2007 season. In previous years the NFL has issued an official injury report on both Wednesday and Friday evenings with the familiar Out/Doubtful/Questionable/Probable categories. This year, the report that will be issued on Friday night will still use those same categories, but now, the Wednesday night report will instead have these categories:

  • Out (Definitely will not play)
  • Did not participate in practice
  • Limited participation in practice
  • Full participation in practice

Since this new system still has four "buckets" just like the old system, and we know many customers have come to rely on the Wednesday injury report for waiver and IR moves, we've decided to translate the above designations into the familiar Out/Doubtful/Probable/Questionable categories, like this:

  • Out (Definitely will not play) = Out
  • Did not participate in practice = Doubtful
  • Limited participation in practice = Questionable
  • Full participation in practice = Probable

However, if you do not want to use these designations for whatever reason, and only want to rely on the Friday injury report for IR moves, you can create a new "No Injured Reserve Moves Allowed" league calendar event that ends Friday night when the final official injury report will be updated for your league. For example, you could define the event to start on Tuesday, September 12th at 12am ET, end on Friday, September 14th at 8pm ET, and to repeat 16 times to prevent the early injury reports from being used as a basis for your league's IR moves.

Making Sure Your Week 1 Scores Are Accurate (Published Mon Sep 3 11:03:32 a.m. ET 2007)

The single most common question we get from customers in week one of the season is "Why is the site scoring players wrong for my league?" And the single most common cause of that problem is an incorrectly defined league scoring system.

To help make sure week 1 scores are accurate for you and your league-mates, the site offers a number of reports that you can use to verify that your scoring rules are properly defined before the season even starts. A little extra work now can save a lot of last-minute headaches later.

  1. The first place to look when verifying your scoring rules is the Reports > Rules > League Scoring report. Not only can you view the rules in a single, concise report, but you can also click on the "Test" link for most rules to get a detailed description of the rule along with a complete range of values and corresponding points. The "Test" link is important, because it automatically identifies when it sees gaps or overlaps in your league scoring rules, and it "knows" about special rules, like the fact that a kickoff return TD can be more than 100 yards long, so it's important that you click on the "Test" link for each rule you've got set up.
  2. Once you feel comfortable that your rules are properly defined, you should use the Reports > Player > Top Performers/Player Stats report to verify individual scores. During the preseason, this report will default to using the 2006 stats computed against your 2007 scoring rules (all 2005 scores will be displayed, too). Just click on any player's score for a given week to view a detailed description of his fantasy points. For example, click on Ladainian Tomlinson's week 11 score to see his 2006 week 11 Detailed Results. Notice that depending on your league scoring system, he should receive points for 3 rushing TDs and 105 rushing yards, 1 receiving TD, and 74 receiving yards. This should all check out with your League Scoring report.
  3. On occasion a unique play will occur that isn't covered in your league scoring rules. While the site offers each league the ability to always manually account for these, we've also developed a couple of documents to assist in better understanding exactly how the stats and scoring work:
    1. The Statistics Lifecycle page includes information about live scoring results, preliminary & final weekly results, official NFL stat changes, and an overview of special plays.
    2. The Special Plays page details how MyFantasyLeague.com scores unique plays that occur from time to time (some only occur once every five or more years).

For more details on verifying your scoring rules, go to the Scoring Setup How To document and scroll down to the "Testing Your Scoring System" section of that page.

In summary, if you spend a few extra minutes now making sure your league scoring system is set up exactly like you want it to be, you'll save lot of last-second headaches this coming Thursday and Sunday!

Getting Help (Published Mon Aug 27 7:19:46 a.m. ET 2007)

Welcome to MyFantasyLeague.com's Weekly Newsletter. Throughout the season, we'll be using these weekly notes to share important information regarding everything from the setup of your league and testing your scoring rules to learning about some of the many features available to you. You can always view this and other past messages using the For Commissioners > Commissioner News page.

If you have follow-up questions or suggestions based on this newsletter, please be sure to submit a support ticket to us via your Help > How To Get Additional Help page, rather than replying via email. Our support ticketing system allows us to respond to your questions and suggestions much faster than email does.

During the preseason, you're most likely busy getting your site set up to meet your league's unique needs. As the site continues to offer more features, it can become a challenge for commissioners to find and use only those features that they need. This first newsletter focuses on the various ways to get assistance when setting up your league.

  1. The quickest way to get help is context-sensitive online help documentation.  In the upper, right-hand corner of most pages on the site, you will see a "Need help?" link. Simply click on this link to get more information on the specific screen you are viewing. You can alternately go to our complete Online Help document (also accessible via the Help > Detailed Help menu item on all league pages) to view this information and perform a keyword search.  For specific help in setting up the most common parts of a league, please also take a look at our many How To documents.
  2. Another option for you is our integrated support ticketing system.  You can go to Help > How To Get Additional Help to see FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) for dozens of the most commonly asked questions (broken out by category and updated frequently).  If the FAQ doesn't answer your question, this screen can be used to create a new support ticket for our staff to answer. You then use the Help > My Support Tickets screen to view any tickets (open or closed) that you have already created.
  3. We also offer 'community-based' assistance via our MyFantasyLeague.com Community Forums. Use this system to read other commissioner's support questions & answers, learn more about how others use the site, share league rule ideas, and even submit your own questions (a separate message board registration is required to post a message).

We're confident with the variety of ways to get help, you'll be well on your way to a successful fantasy football season in no time!

Less Than Two Weeks To Kickoff - Additional Site Enhancements (Published Thu Aug 23 4:23:21 p.m. ET 2007)

Thanks again for taking the time to set up a 2007 league on MyFantasyLeague.com. This newsletter will keep you informed of off-season activities on the site. With less than two weeks until kickoff of the 2007 season, this will be the last batch of pre-season enhancements we announce.

If you have follow-up questions or suggestions based on this newsletter, please be sure to submit a support ticket to us via your Help > How To Get Additional Help page, rather than replying via email. Our support ticketing system allows us to respond to your questions and suggestions much faster than email does.

We're happy to announce even more site enhancements have been completed in the first few weeks of August:

  1. 75kb File Upload Limit - all logos, icons and sound clips uploaded to the MyFantasyLeague.com site can now be up to 75kb in size. Previously, our limit was 50kb each.
  2. "Missed Field Goal Returned For A TD" Rule - To account for plays like Devin Hester's 108 yard TD in week 10 last year, we have two new league rules we support, and a change in the definition of two more, including:
    1. Number of Missed Field Goal Return TDs - This is the number of missed field goals in a game that are returned all the way for a TD.
    2. Length of Missed Field Goal Return TD - This is the length in yards of a missed field goal return TD. This rule is evaluated for EACH missed field goal return TD.
    3. Number of Defensive & Special Teams TDs - This is the number of Defensive and Special Teams TDs scored. It includes Interception Return TDs, Opponent Fumble Recovery TDs, Blocked Punt TDs, Blocked FG TDs, Punt Return TDs, Kickoff Return TDs, and Missed FG Return TDs.
    4. Length of Defensive/Special Teams TDs - This is the length in yards of a Defensive or Special Teams TD. It includes Interception Return TDs, Opponent Fumble Recovery TDs, Blocked Punt TDs, Blocked FG TDs, Punt Return TDs, Kickoff Return TDs, and Missed FG Return TDs.
You can add these rules to your exisiting league scoring rules via the For Commissioners > Setup > Scoring Setup > Custom Scoring Setup page.
  3. Live Draft Room Enhancements - Several live draft room enhancements, including:
    1. When a player is picked, he will be immediately removed from the list of available players. Previously, even though that player was no longer draftable, he remained in the list for a short time, causing some concerns.
    2. When a commissioner does an "Undo Pick", the player in question will immediately be added back to the list of available players.
    3. A clearer indication in the "Draft Picks" section of what franchise has pre-drafted, indicating that his pick will be made for him immediately when he gets on the clock.
    4. A clearer indication in the "Draft Picks" section of what franchise has been set up by the commissioner to be automatically picked for as soon as they get on the clock.
  4. More Home Page Messages - Commissioners can now enter up to 12 home page messages on the "For Commissioners > Setup > Home Page Message Setup" option. Previously, the limit was 10 messages.
  5. 2 New Skins - your For Commissioners > Setup > Appearance Setup > Select A Skin page has been updated to include two new skins, called "Retro Rockstar" and "Fantasy Football?". Note that the "Fantasy Football?" skin might be politely referred to as "not workplace friendly", so keep that in mind before selecting or previewing that skin.
  6. Pre-Draft Pick Page - the "For Owners > Draft" page, when doing pre-draft picks, will default to show players sorted by the owner's "My Draft List" listing, or the owner can change to the old default of the alphabetical player listing.
  7. For Owners > Waivers - the "For Owners > Waivers" page (for first come, first served waivers, and free agent moves) has been updated to show rostered player bye weeks, as well as salaries (for salary cap leagues).
  8. For Owners > Trades - the "For Owners > Trades" page has been updated to show player salaries for both franchises for salary cap leagues.
  9. Per-Player Waivers - if you've come to MyFantasyLeague.com from another site like Yahoo!, CBS Sportsline, or ESPN, you've probably already noticed that we handle waivers differently than they do. To try to allow you to mimic your waiver rules from your previous host on our site, we're now offering the ability to process waivers on a "per-player" basis. This means that all waiver requests for "locked" players that are due to be unlocked can be processed on a per-player basis (versus all at once) nightly at 3am ET. The easiest way to turn this option on is by going to the For Commissioners > Setup > Transactions Setup > Select Packaged Waiver Rules page, and choose the "Yahoo!" packaged waiver rule option. More advanced customers who understand the current waiver setup pages can go directly to the "For Commissioners > Setup > Transactions Setup > Waiver Request Setup page to turn this option on. As always, please let us know if you have any comments, questions, or suggestions regarding this new way of processing waivers.

In addition, to address several concerns with the three original templates on the "Select A Template Page" ("Blue", "All-American", and "SuperLeague"), on Saturday, August 25th, we'll be "retiring" those templates, and replacing them with newer templates that should not have some of the constraints and problems that the original version of these templates had, most notably a fixed-width third column for league content. However, if you would rather revert your league back to the original template, you may do so by going to the For Commissioners > Setup > Appearance Setup > Select A Template page, and selecting one of the "X-Retired" templates that will be listed on that page on Saturday.

Don't forget about our new Page Design Contest, where you can showcase your design skills, and turn your efforts into cold, hard cash! See this page for more details on this contest.

If you have any questions about the above enhancements, feel free to send us a Support Ticket.

Sincerely, MyFantasyLeague.com

Player Database Updates & Partnership With Rotoworld.com (Published Tue Aug 21 11:07:30 p.m. ET 2007)

We're happy to announce a new partnership with Rotoworld.com - in this partnership, they are now the official source for all of our player database position changes.

If you have follow-up questions or suggestions based on this newsletter, please be sure to submit a support ticket to us via your Help > How To Get Additional Help page, rather than replying via email. Our support ticketing system allows us to respond to your questions and suggestions much faster than email does.

Long-term, what this means to our customers is you should see more timeliness and accuracy in our player database, especially with regards to Individual Defensive Players (IDPs). We're confident that this change will be a noticeable improvement in our player database management for IDP leagues, and it should have little impact on non-IDP leagues.

Shorter-term, this means we will be publishing a player database update tomorrow (Thursday, August 23rd), at 4am ET that will change the position of several players, as listed on this page, to bring our current player database in sync with Rotoworld.com's player database.

For non-IDP leagues, the only significant player position change is Michael Koenen, from PK (kicker) to PN (punter).

For all leagues, but especially IDP leagues, we strongly suggest you review this entire list, to understand all of the players being changed, and understand how that might impact various league rules, especially those leagues with roster position limits, and players that are currently on a roster. For example, if your league requires an owner to have at least 2 DE's on his roster, and he currently has two, but one of his two will be changed to a DT effective Thursday, then his roster will become invalid on Thursday.

While we feel strongly that this partnership will make our product even better, we understand that not all customers will agree with these position changes. Any league that does not agree with any of these position changes can over-ride these changes as they see fit on a player-by-player basis, after this update is published on Thursday, by using the For Commissioners > Setup > Players and Rosters > Change Player Position page, to change any player's position to any other position as you see fit.

Rotoworld Draft Guide
In addition, with this partnership, we're happy to endorse the Rotoworld Draft Guide. If you're looking for an edge over your competition at your fantasy draft this season, be sure to check out Rotoworld's 2007 On-line Fantasy Draft Guide. It includes profiles of every significant player (over 600) and customizable cheat sheets, plus extras like fantasy tiering and and dynasty coverage.

As always, if you have any comments, questions or suggestions about this change, please feel free to send us a Support Ticket.

Sincerely, The MyFantasyLeague.com Support Staff

August 2007 - Additional Site Enhancements (Published Mon Aug 6 1:31:38 p.m. ET 2007)

Thanks again for taking the time to set up a 2007 league on MyFantasyLeague.com. This newsletter will keep you informed of off-season activities on the site.

If you have follow-up questions or suggestions based on this newsletter, please be sure to submit a support ticket to us via your Help > How To Get Additional Help page, rather than replying via email. Our support ticketing system allows us to respond to your questions and suggestions much faster than email does.

We're happy to announce even more site enhancements have been completed in July:

  1. Additional Sorting/Stats On Top Performers Report - the Reports > Player > Top Performers/Player Stats page has been updated to include new ways to slice and dice data, including:
    1. Sortable Columns - most column headers on this report are now "clickable", allowing you to sort the data by clicking on almost any column header.
    2. Additional NFL Stats - the Reports > Player > Top Performers/Player Stats > Advanced Search page has been updated to include additional fantasy and NFL stats - for example, when selecting the Rushers category, you'll see receiving stats, when selecting the Passers category, you'll also see rushing stats, and so on. In addition, fantasy points are displayed in the first column of these reports.
  2. My Draft List - the "For Owners > My Draft List" option has been updated to include many new options, including:
    1. The "source" list can be filtered based on position, NFL team and rookie status.
    2. Both the "source" and "destintion" lists are now mulit-select, meaning that you can now add and remove multiple players at a time using the "control-click" method.
    3. There are new "Move 20 Up" and "Move 20 Down" buttons to make shuffling players around on the destination list easier.
  3. Integration With Screaming Sports - We're happy to announce a partnership with ScreamingSports.com. ScreamingSports.com allows fantasy players to manage all their fantasy teams from different web sites, including Yahoo, ESPN, CBSSportsline and now MyFantasyLeague, all in one place. You can also add automation you can't get on many of those sites like automatic roster substitutions and then have it all available over any wireless device! Please contact ScreamingSports.com directly for any follow-up questions regarding this integration.
  4. One New Template - a new template called Huddle is available on your For Commissioners > Setup > Appearance Setup > Select A Template page.
  5. 2 New Skins - your For Commissioners > Setup > Appearance Setup > Select A Skin page has been updated to include two new skins, called "Motocross" and "The Huddle 2007". Note that the skin that used to be called "The Huddle" is now called "The Huddle 2006".
  6. Trade Poll Options - the For Commissioners > Setup > Transactions Setup > Trades Setup page has been updated to include a new option titled "When A Trade Poll Is Created:", allowing the league commissioner to apply certain poll options to trade polls when they are created (if they are hidden, public and/or required).
  7. Draft Order Setup - All Rounds Options - the For Commissioners > Setup > Draft Setup > Draft Order Setup - All Rounds page has a few new options on it:
    1. The Draft Type setting now allows you to set up 3rd Round Reverse Serpentine drafts.
    2. There is a new Send Email To Owners Regarding How Draft Order Was Generated? option, allowing you to have the system automatically email owners when the draft order is generated, including the first round of the draft. If one of the "random" draft order settings is selected, the email will include a note to owners about how the system has completely randomly selected the draft order, ensuring no bias on the part of the league commissioner.
  8. Refer A Friend - Save $10 - there is a new option available at For Commissioners > Refer A Friend to allow you to quickly and easily send an email to anyone you wish regarding our Referral Program. Also, the top of that page summarizes the referrals that you've made so far.
  9. Additional Packaged Schedules For Large Leagues - despite the fact that we currently offer over 600 packaged schedules sometimes bigger leagues couldn't find a packaged schedule that meets their needs. Now, the For Commissioners > Setup > Fantasy Schedule Setup > Select A Packaged Schedule page will make some additional efforts to search through our packaged schedules to try to apply one of the simpler schedules to your larger league multiple times.
  10. Edit Your "Raw" Fantasy Schedule - for more advanced customers who may generate their own schedule via another application, and want to be able to edit (or share) your schedule in it's "raw" format, there is a new For Commissioners > Setup > Fantasy Schedule Setup > Import Fantasy Schedule option. Be sure to click on the "Need help?" link in the upper right-hand corner of that page before using this advanced option for details on exactly how it works!

In addition, we're happy to announce a new Page Design Contest, where you can showcase your design skills, and turn your efforts into cold, hard cash! See this page for more details on this contest.

If you have any questions about the above enhancements, feel free to send us a Support Ticket.

We're happy to announce even more site enhancements have been completed in June:

June 2007 - Renew Before June 10th To Save $20, More Site Enhancements (Published Sun Jun 3 3:02:00 p.m. ET 2007)

If you haven't already, be sure to purchase your 2007 league before June 10th, 2007 to save $20! Full pricing details are available on our Purchase page.

As always, we're busy adding new features to the site to make sure your 2007 season is better than ever before. This month, this list includes:

  1. Tabbed Home Page Setup - The For Commissioners > Setup > Appearance Setup > Home Page Setup page (as well as the "For Owners > Franchise Setup > Home Page Setup" page) will now allow people to create additional tabs for their league home page. Tabs are basically a way of allowing someone to have a lot more content on their league home page without having to scroll down to see that content. Instead, you can simply click on the appropriate tab to see the content. Each tab can have a customized module layout, just like the main home page tab, and each tab can be named however you'd like, and then later deleted if necessary.
  2. More Live Draft Audio Voices and Sounds - The For Commissioners > Setup > Draft Setup > Draft Timer Setup page has a new option on it called "Voice To Use For Audio Clips In Live Draft:" with the voice options called: David, Callie and Shouty, as well as "None", if you'd rather not hear audio in your live draft. The default voice is David. With this change, you'll also notice several changes to our live draft audio, including:
    1. All rookies now have an audio clip associated with them, where previously it was much later in the off-season before we were able to record rookie player names.
    2. All players in our player database, including second and third tier players, IDPs, etc. have an audio clip associated with them, where previously only a fraction of the players in our player database had audio clips.
    3. Several events that happen in your live draft will be announced via these audio clips, including: Welcome to your MyFantasyLeague live draft (when you go into your live draft room), Invalid Draft Pick (when anyone attempts to make an invalid draft pick), It's Your Turn To Pick, You're On Deck (when you're the next pick up after the current pick), and Timer Is About To Expire (when there is 10 seconds left on the timer).
  3. New Default Skin - With our web site design, we've updated our default skin accordingly. This new default skin will apply to any newly created leagues, as well as to any past leagues with us that have used the old default MFL skin. For those who are a fan of the old skin, you can still select that via the For Commissioners > Setup > Appearance Setup > Select A Skin page, where it's now called the "MFL Classic" skin.
  4. Better Handling Of Uneven/Invalid Trades - To better handle the situation where a trade would cause an invalid roster, the For Commissioners > Setup > Transactions Setup > Trades Setup page has two new options on it:
    1. Allow Trades That Would Create Invalid Rosters To Go Through? Yes No
    2. When A Trade Causes An Invalid Roster, Allow Owner To Submit Lineups? Yes No
Changing the first option from it's default of "No", to "Yes" will allow 2-for-1 trades (as well as any other type of trade that would otherwise cause an invalid roster) to go through. In conjunction with this, the second option allows a commissioner to prevent an owner from submitting a lineup when they have an invalid roster.
  5. Required Polls - When creating a new poll (or editing an existing poll), there is a new checkbox (displayed only to league commissioners) titled "Poll is required - owners must vote before submitting lineups:" - if the commissioner check that checkbox, owners cannot submit lineups until they have voted in that poll. A commissioner can have as many of the "required" polls as they'd like at any one time.
  6. 3rd Place Playoff Games & Bracket Crossover - The For Commissioners > Setup > Playoff Setup > General Playoff Setup page has a new column on it titled "Set Up 3rd Place Game?" which, when selected, will automatically create a new, separate third place bracket (2 teams, 1 game) which happens in the same week as the championship game happens in the "parent" bracket. In addition, the Playoff Schedule Setup page now has "bracket crossover", whereby a loser (or winner, for that matter) of a game in one bracket can be automatically put into another bracket, making it much easier to set up 5th place games, 7th place games, etc.
  7. Reset Player Salaries/Contracts - the For Commissioners > Setup > Salary Cap Setup > General Salary Cap Setup page has a new input field on it called: Reset Player Salary/Contract To League Default - valid options are: "Never" (which is the default, and the way that the site has worked at all times up until now), "When a player is dropped" or "When a player is unlocked". At the approrpriate time, the system will automatically reset the player's salary and all contract information to the league default.
  8. Last Week's Point Total Standings/Waivers Sort - The For Commissioners > Setup > Standings Setup, For Commissioners > Setup > Transactions Setup > Waiver Request Setup and "Blind Bidding Setup" pages all have a new sort criteria listed called "Last Week's Point Total" to allow commissioners to sort those items by the last completed weekly point total.
  9. Standings Legend - There is a new set of fields on the For Commissioners > Setup > Standings Setup page called "Standings Legend" to allow commissioners to put a legend on the bottom of their full league standings report.

In addition, we've recently re-organized our MyFantasyLeague.com Community Forums, adding some new sub-forums.

As always, please let us know if you have any questions about the above enhancements. With three months until the start of the 2007 season, we've still got lots more planned for future site enhancements.

Sincerely, MyFantasyLeague.com

May 2007 - NFL Schedule & Draft Results Available, and more. (Published Fri May 4 11:10:01 p.m. ET 2007)

Thanks again for taking the time to set up a 2007 league on MyFantasyLeague.com. This newsletter will keep you informed of off-season activities on the site.

Now that the NFL draft is over, and the NFL has announced their 2007 schedule, you'll notice that your 2007 league pages have been updated to include this schedule information, as well as all 2007 NFL draftees.

In addition to the enhancements we announced last month, here are a couple of additional site upgrades we've completed in April:

  1. Salary Cap Setup - For salary cap leagues, there is a new For Commissioners > Setup > Salary Cap Setup > Select Packaged Player Salaries option which allows the league commissioner to:
    1. Copy salaries from another league to this league.
    2. Use the pre-packaged MyFantasyLeague.com default player salaries - which will be available in mid-July, as in the past.
    3. For deluxe leagues, copy player salaries from one division/conference to another division/conference.
  2. Contract Year Cap - The For Commissioners > Setup > Salary Cap Setup > General Salary Cap Setup page has a new input field on it called "Per-Franchise Contract Year Cap" for leagues that want the system to enforce a cap of the total of all contract years on a franchise.
  3. Roster Minimum Enforcement - The For Commissioners > Setup > Players And Rosters > Roster Position Limits Setup has a new input field on it called "Total Across All Positions: Min On Roster" to force owners to have a minimum number of players on their roster. Note that this minimum is not enforced during a pre-season draft or an auction.

As always, please let us know if you have any questions about the above enhancements. With four months until the start of the 2007 season, we've got lots more planned for future site enhancements.

Don't forget, to take advantage of our $20 discount, be sure to purchase your league (if you haven't already done so) before our June 10, 2007 deadline.

Also, if are you a computer programmer or web designer, and you're looking to take your fantasy football league to the next level, check out our Advanced Customization Guide, which details how you can write your own CSS to control your league page appearance, and get access to "raw" league data in an industry-standard XML format, or "embed" league home page modules into other web pages - three options that you'll only find here at MyFantasyLeague.com!

Finally, we've just released a new home page at http://www.myfantasyleague.com/ - check it out, and let us know what you think!

Sincerely, MyFantasyLeague.com

April 2007 - Site Enhancements (Published Wed Apr 4 3:06:44 p.m. ET 2007)

Here at MyFantasyLeague.com, we're already busy working on the site for 2007 to ensure that your league experience here is better than ever before. Some of the many enhancements that we've already completed for 2007 include:

  1. Accounting/Abilities - the For Commissioners > Setup > Accounting Setup page has new fields on it, including:
    • Prevent owners from doing some abilities when accounting balance gets below a certain amount? Yes/No
    • If accounting balance is less than or equal to: $xx
    • Then, do not allow owners to: Submit lineups, Perform waivers/free agent moves, Propose and accept trades, Make IR Moves, Make Taxi Squad Moves
Allowing commissioners to prevent owners from doing certain transactions if their accounting balance gets below a certain dollar amount.
  2. Blind Bidding - the For Commissioners > Setup > Transactions Setup > Blind Bidding Setup page has a new input field on it titled "Amount charged to blind bidding balance for each player acquired via FCFS waivers:" for leagues that want FCFS waiver moves to be billed against their blind bidding balance. In addition, there is another new field on that page called "Are Salary Cap Dollars And Blind Bidding Dollars Treated As One And The Same?" for leagues that use both salary cap dollars and blind bidding dollars.
  3. Wireless Reports - there are several new wireless reports and enhancements to make life better for our customers who access the site via their cell phone or PDA, including:
    1. The For Owners > Franchise Setup > Advanced page has a new field on it called "Franchise Abbreviation". If you enter an abbreviation into that field (typically 3 or 4 letters), that abbreviation will be used on all wireless (and grid) reports throughout the site.
    2. A new Reports > Wireless > Login page for wireless-friendly logging into your league.
    3. A new Reports > Wireless > Home page for easy access to all league wireless pages.
    4. A new Reports > Wireless > Submit Lineup page to allow people to submit lineups from their wireless device.
    5. The Wireless Access page for all leagues has been updated to include these new options.
  4. Victory Points - the For Commissioners > Setup > Adjust Scores And Standings > Victory Points Setup page has been updated to allow a commissioner to set up his league with two victory points "buckets" (previously, there were only three), and also to declare what week victory points should start and stop being accumulated.
  5. Draft/Auction - the For Commissioners > Setup > Draft Setup > Revert Draft page now allows a commissioner to revert a draft without dropping the associated players from rosters. In addition, the For Commissioners > Setup > General League Setup page has a new option for the "At the start of the season, rosters are determined by:" setting called "Both an on-line email draft and email auction, taking several days/weeks to complete." for leagues that have both a draft and an auction. There is a new "Countdown To League Auction" home page module, and a new calendar event type called "Auction", for leagues that are auction leagues.
  6. NFL Pools - both the Survivor Pool and Pick'em/Confidence Pool can now end at weeks other than when your fantasy league ends - see the For Commissioners > Setup > Pool Setup page for details. In addition, Pick'em/Confidence pool picks can be made for future weeks. Finally, when survivor or pick'em/confidence picks are made, a transaction will be displayed on the Reports > Franchise > Transactions page (much like happens for submitting lineups), making it easier for owners and commissioners to double-check exactly when owners submitted their picks.
  7. Site Usability/Appearance - several smaller enhancements have been made to the site to hopefully make it easier to use and more attractive, including:
    1. All fantasy and NFL matchups are now displayed in a more traditional format with the away team on top and home team on bottom.
    2. A new For Commissioners > Setup > Transactions Setup > Waiver Setup Wizard page is available to hopefully make setting up waivers much easier.
    3. The For Commissioners > Setup > Appearance Setup > Other Settings page has several new fields on it, including:
      1. "To Collapse/Expand Home Page Modules:" - options for this are: Click on plus/minus sign in module caption, Double-click on module caption, and Don't allow home page modules to be collapsed.
      2. "Display NFL Opponent's Passing/Rushing Rank On Submit Lineups Page? Yes/No" for those leagues who wish to hide the rank information from their owners when submitting lineups.
      3. "Is league home page accessible to guests? Yes/No" to prevent guests from even seeing your league home page without being logged in.
      4. "Display Rosters Report? Yes/No" to prevent owners from seeing the rosters report.
    4. Several changes to the Login page, League Calendar Setup page, and Trades Setup page to make them easier to use and understand.
    5. For public polls, it's now much easier to see who voted what way, simply by clicking on the number of votes.
    6. The Reports > Player > Player Search page is now more forgiving in how player names are spelled. For example, a search on "Drew" will display Maurice Jones-Drew, where previously it would not.
    7. For Deluxe leagues, the Reports > Franchise > Rosters report is now broken out per division/conference.
    8. The For Commissioners > Setup > Playoff Setup > General Playoff Setup page now has a link to make it much easier to add a given bracket to a league home page.
    9. The For Owners > Franchise Setup > Advanced page now has a new field on it titled "Use Advanced Editor on league type-in boxes? Yes/No" to give owners more ability to format the various messages on the site, even if the commissioner has decided to not use the Advanced Editor.
  8. Contest Lineup Submissions - now, when submitting a contest-style lineup, owners can enter free-form comments, for either trash-talking purposes, or to indicate custom league tiebreaker players.

With five months until the start of the 2007 season, we've got lots more planned for future site enhancements.

In addition, here's a re-cap of some of the more significant in-season enhancements we added to the site during last season, in case you missed these features before.

  1. Records Reports - there are three new records reports under the Reports > Records heading, showing you franchise, player and matchup records across all seasons that you've had a league on MyFantasyLeague.com.
  2. Google Gadgets - the Reports > League > Embed League Data page has been updated to allow you to embed any MyFantasyLeague.com home page module directly into your personalized Google home page using the "Google Gadget" technology.
  3. RSS Feed - key league data is available in the industry-standard RSS format via the Reports > League > RSS Feed page.

Finally, don't forget that the NFL schedule displayed on your 2007 MyFantasyLeague.com league is a dummy/made up schedule. When the official NFL schedule gets released (which should be mid-April), your 2007 league will be updated to reflect this change.

As always, please let us know if you have any comments, questions or suggestions for the site!

Sincerely,
MyFantasyLeague.com
