| I thought it would fun to see what everyone thought of all the trades so far. Looking at each individually would be a pain so I decided to group them by team and look at the combined trades of each team. I'll list the results of all the trades here and set up a poll for each team. I'll start with teams that have made the most trades and progress downward.
Here is what I did. I listed all the players and draft picks involved in all of the team's trades. Next, I cancelled out the similar picks on each side and filled in the remaining picks with who was taken at that spot. Then, I cancelled out the similar players on each side and also deleted any players who are currently a FA. Here are the first two teams, Balls and Inglorious.
Balls (16 trades):
Balls Received Balls Gave QB Brees Palmer Losman Bulger Croyle Kolb RB T. Henry Caddy Williams McGahee Brandon Jackson A. Peterson (Min) Dorsey M. Bell Dwayne Wright Irons M. Moore K. Watson WR J. Walker S. Smith (Car) A. Toomer R. Wayne K. Walter Bowe B. Smith Curry Br. Jones Stallworth TE Crumpler T. Gonzalez Cooley D. Clark B. Watson E. Johnson
Def Chicago Carolina

| For me this would be easier to evaluate looking at every trade. I think I know what you're trying to show, but I'm still confused.

> For me this would be easier to evaluate looking at > every trade. I think I know what you're trying to > show, but I'm still confused. You can actually do that by looking at transactions and limiting it to one team and trades. The problem is that it won't tell who the players are that were draft picks. Besides I think it is better to look at it overall to see the big picture.

Looking at the big picture for Balls is like comparing 2 whole teams.

| Well, I also think the setup doesn't really do it justice, but that's fine. But, also don't forget, there is the original trade with Glass that never showed up. So I ended up with an extra pick that isn't accounted for. Also, some of those just aren't accurate bc it seems you cancelled some out and not others. For example, without counting that trade from Glass, it looks like I gave up much more than I really did. I actually gave up LJ (the 1.4 pick) to get AP and also added AJ in there. If you want me to do the breakdown for my team since I know what happened, I'd be more than happy to.

| Ok, I went through it and did it myself. I'll just list out the final net product of all my trades where I eliminated where I got players and then traded them at a later time.
Received:
QB--Brees, Losman, Croyle RB--A. Peterson, T. Henry, McGahee, Irons WR--J. Walker, B. Jones TE--Cooley, Crumpler Def--Chicago
FA since dropped that I received: Tab Perry, Kevin Walter, Brad Smith, David Boston, Toomer, Stokley, Mike Bell.
I gave up:
QB: Bulger, Kolb RB: LJ, Cadillac, Brandon Jackson, DeDe Dorsey, Dwayne Wright, AP2, M. Moore WR: S. Smith, Stallworth, Bowe, Glenn, Lelie TE: Clark, Watson, Eric Johnson Def: Carolina 2008 1st and 3rd
That's the final result. I think you guys might want to readjust your voting when you look at that.

All I did was list all the players picks you received and traded away, filled them in with players drafted at those picks, and canceled out those appearing on both sides. I could have easily made a mistake with yours. I'll check again. I would have missed the Glass trade if it didn't appear in the transaction list.

While not the most accurate way to look at the overall success as there were some individual trades I won on and others I lost, definitely feel like the overall product was improved over if I had just stayed put all year.

| I think you improved at QB. I'd rather have Brees than Bulger, but it's probably close. Kolb is the wildcard. I'd rather have him than Losman or Croyle, only because he hasn't had a chance to be mediocre. Slight improvement at QB. You definitely improved at RB. I'd rather have Peterson over Johnson and McGahee over Williams. You also likely may have the starter in Cincy. You have an argument for Henry but it's probably not a strong one. The rest of what you gave up isn't worth much. Big improvement at RB. You definitely took a hit at WR. Ward continued his slide and likely has seen his last days as a #1. Branch can't stay on the field. Cotchery looks good but I'm not sure if he'll ever be a (FF) #1. You definitely gave up a #1 in Smith. He still finished 13th despite the QB problems. Bowe finished even with Cotchery but I think I'd rather have him. I don't think the rest matter much. You definitely improved at TE. I like Clark over Watson and Heap is a bonus. He's top 5 when he plays. Who knows with defense year to year. Hester keeps Chicago in the top 6. Who knows what the draft picks will turn into.
Overall, I'd agree you improved. You definitely took a hit at WR but you ought to be able to turn some of your RB depth into an improvement at WR, but you'd have to be willing to make a few trades.

| Gian bragging/showing how great you think you did in the trade department may not be the best way to induce owners to trade with you in the future. Some things may be best unsaid.

> Where is Cooley??? Technically he got Cooley from me in trade so he doesn't show up on the list. Which is at least part of the reason I don't think using this method for evaluating trades shows the whole picture.
I gave up Cooley and Kenny Irons for Watson and Jennings.

| Yeah, not all players involved in trades show up if I didn't originally get them (or would have gotten them) in the draft. That's why it's not a completely accurate measure.
I agree a lot with Buckeye's assessment. Also, that wasn't about "bragging" at all. Just went back and revisited this and was showing the final product since it was done in the middle of the season. Not much point in showing how "great I did in the trading department" with an early playoff exit and nothing to show for it. That wasn't the intent at all. I really don't think that post would keep most from trading with me in the future, but if it does....
