ATTENTION BOARD MEMBERS - New software feature... when you cast a vote, it will show you the current tally. Do not choose to see the results before you make a selection or it will lock you out of making a YES or NO vote. Thanks! BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEMBERS - Please follow this link -- http://glffl.ipbhost.com/index.php?showtopic=447 -- to give your comments and final ruling in this matter. As always, if you are a member of this league, feel free to post that info but you need to abstain from the voting and the discussion. LEAGUE MEMBERS -- Please follow the same link -- http://glffl.ipbhost.com/index.php?showtopic=447 -- for updates on the final ruling in this matter but let the BOD debate the issue without direct input on the message board. Hey guys-- Just to give you a heads-up, a recent trade has officially been protested in this league. Here is the trade in question: * *Red Headed Midgit Bitches gave up Holt, Torry STL WR; Year 2008 Round 1 Draft Pick from *Red Headed Midgit Bitches * *Georgia Bandits gave up Tomlinson, Ladainian SDC RB League Link-- http://football30.myfantasyleague.com/2007/home/49936 Below is the rationale from the owner calling for the veto... **** ----- Original Message ----- From: "Sean Burke" To: <glffl@neo.rr.com> Sent: Friday, October 19, 2007 8:54 AM Subject: mich 15 trade protest > Kirk ..... i am going to protest this latest deal ......... **** As a result, the protest has been forwarded to the GLFFL's Board of Directors, per the requirement as outlined in the league rules -- http://www.glffl.net/michigan_rules.html -- and copied below: "The league has the ability to call for a trade veto within 48 hours of the trade becoming official during the regular season and 72 hours of the trade becoming official during the off-season. Making a case to call for a veto vote must consist of something more substantial than "I don't agree with the trade and I want to vote against it." The owner calling for the veto should post a rationale on the league message board and send out an email to the commissioner for consideration by the entire league. Once this occurs, the trade will be voted on by a 15-member panel of the GLFFL's Board of Directors, consisting of the owners who have the longest tenure and most representation in the GLFFL. This way, deals can be decided by individuals who are unbiased since they are not a part of the league in question. In the event that members of the Board of Directors are involved in the trade in question, they must abstain from the voting procedure. Trades will be vetoed if 60 percent (nine panelists) vote for a reversal within the 48-72 hour period." All Board Members: Please leave your opinions and then cast a vote in the thread to follow. No Board Members are in this league so we will have the full field of 15 participating in the vote and NINE veto votes are needed for the trade to be overturned.

----- Original Message ----- From: Larry Fitzpatrick To: GLFFL Sent: Friday, October 19, 2007 4:44 PM Subject: Michigan League 15 (49936) Kirk, I must have hot the wrong button by mistake. I want to contest this trade. I'm not sure what happened, but this cannot be true.LT is by far and away the best player on my team. I need some help with the roster BUT this is not the way to get it.I think I may have left the page on my computer and somebody else must have executed the trade. It WON'T happen again, I can guarentee that.

I realized that thos trade was accepted while I was away from my computer.I left the page open, left it there for about 1/2 hour. When I got back to computer, I didn't even realize I wasn't on same page. Will NOT happen again. If I gotta live with this, so be it. It will be a hard lesson to learn from but I will.By the way, there is NO, HELL no collusion here.To all owners not getting LT, I'm sorry.Y'all do whats right and I will live by your decision.

It's sort of humerous, reading all the BOD members' comments and then finding out one of the parties to the trade didn't intend to do it to begin with. Seems like the right thing to do would be to reverse the trade in this case.

Also concerning this and other trades, Quoting Section 1, rule 6 "Before trades are approved involving players or picks in the off-season or future picks in the regular season, both owners must pay their full entry fee for the future year to ensure that they will return for the upcoming season". Since I really doubt that any of us have paid our fee for next year, how in the world did this get approved in the first place?

the latest decision from the BOD is a clear indicator of how that entity has outlived its usefullness ..... if you read all the latest strings about trade protests you will see wild inconsistencies and guys simply voting to rubber stamp all deals .... if you cannot prove collusion, trade stands ..... and that, friends, is simply a farce ..... here we have the best player in fantasy football over the past number of years dealt for a WR who "seems" to have slipped and has a balky knee .... and what appears to be a mid first round pick of an unknown player in next year's rookie/fa draft .... take a look at picks 5-8 in this year's rookie draft and you end up with something like tomlinson for holt and robert meachem or chris henry or brandon jackson ..... granted the jury is still out on those players but chances are by the time they are any good, holt will be finito and tomlinson will still be tearing it up ..... but the BOD, in it "infinite" wisdom voted to let this trade stand, tho i am uncertain as to what they based that on .... no collusion? no micromanaging? 2 owners dealing in good faith? "we're not here to determine whether one owner dealt tomlinson for below market value? all kinds of mularkey rather than a simply common sense look at what really is a terrible trade ..... so how does that affect the competitive balance of a league is a common question asked when a 2-4 team trades with an 0-6 team .... well, bandits, without tomlinson becomes far less competitive, IMO, and while he is 0-6, he lost games by 3/5/14 points, hardly routs .... so the teams that play bandits the remainder of the season have what appears to be a cakewalk, so that affect the potential playoff structure .... and, with the addition of tomlinson, red head becomes a bigger factor .... anyone relish the thought of playing a team with LT, knowing he can rip off 35-40 point games? how often does 100-110 points win a game, so when ya get 35 from LT, you only need 65-75 from your 8 other players to win most weeks .... granted, trades that happen between contenders and non contenders normally benefit the contender NOW, making a push to win and the non contender looks ahead to next season .... but here you have a non contender trading for a 31-year old wide receiver (arguably the easiest position to fill anyway) with a bad knee and a draft pick .... i'm hard pressed to comprehend how this benefits a team looking ahead to next year .... if tomlinson was 33 or 34 and having one final banner year, i could more understand the deal .... but to trade tomlinson WITHOUT getting some form of reasonable RB in return PLUS a WR and draft pick is incomprehensible to me .... and then to have 7 allegedly elite memebs of glffl put a rubber stamp on the deal without looking a bit further than collusion, etc, is beyond me .... well, not really beyond me since i left the BOD earlier this year because of just these type of situations and the frustration that came from them ..... anyway, under any circumstance and in any league in america, this is a horrendous trade .... the reason the BOD exists is to deal with stuff like this and well, they dealt with it .... they just dealt with it very poorly .....
