| OK, It's late, I'm not tired and I'm bored. I tried to read my book but it's not holding my attention tonight, so I thought I'd jump on this as a little mental exercise for the evening. I figured out all the salary increases for 2008. The Commish obviously has to review them for accuracy, but I'm fairly positive they are correct. First, what the rules say. "9. Teams may keep their ENTIRE roster from year to year, although salaries will increase for players who meet certain statistical criteria based on the league's scoring system. Those players not meeting the standards set below will carry their current salary structure to the following season. The rest of the salaries will be set as follows: RUSHING - Top RB - 20% increase / Average of #2 through #5 after their increases, whichever is greater #2 - #5 RB - $8 / 15% increase, whichever is greater #6 - #10 RB - $5 / 10% increase, whichever is greater RECEIVING - Top WR/TE - 20% increase / Average of #2 through #5 after their increases, whichever is greater #2 - #5 WR/TE - $5 / 15% increase, whichever is greater #6 - #10 WR- $3 / 10% increase, whichever is greater PASSING - Top QB - 20% increase / Average of #2 through #5 after their increases, whichever is greater #2 - #5 QB - $3 / 15% increase, whichever is greater KICKING - Top K - 20% increase / Average of #2 through #5 after their increases, whichever is greater #2 - #5 K - $2 / 15% increase, whichever is greater NFL TEAMS - Top DEF - 20% increase / Average of #2 through #5 after their increases, whichever is greater #2 - #5 DEF - $2 / 15% increase, whichever is greater Players earning between $1 and $10 that finish in the Top 5 in scoring the year they are playing for that contract will automatically receive a $25 raise for the following season. TEs earning between $1 and $5 that finish in the Top 2 in scoring the year they are playing for that contract will automatically receive a $10 raise for the following season." Now that the rules are straight, here are our lucky finalists. I'm copying and pasting this from my Excel spreadsheet, so I hope it formats correctly on the board here. | Good job WSW. I had done a similar calculation but I didn't round up the % increase. I wasn't sure whether <.5 was rounded down and >.5 was rounded up. You list J Witten at 16.75 as a $10 increase. Shouldn't his salary be $17(Average of #2 through #5). Mutt Cutts takes the biggest hit going from $175 to $220. His bargain QB takes a $25 hit. Another $20 from 4 players M Barber, C Portis, C Johnson, K Winslow. Could he be saying bye bye to C Portis and C Johnson and hello to $92. Lone Gunman is 2nd $176 to $207. T J @ 205.20 points got tabbed with a $25 hit in 5th place while W Welker @ 203.70 in 6th only was increased by $3. What a difference 1.5 points makes. Ouch!! M Colston and B Marshall added $3 each Big Dog Daddy, aka "some kind of kitty" is 3rd $179 to $206. But don't send any flowers since he can recover $50 by dropping S Young to offset M Jone-Drew's $25 hit. The Steeler Def may be expendable @ $8. Could a trade for the Cowboy D be in the works? Italian Ice is 4th $180 to $205. Since his $3 TE was the #1 points leader, he takes $14 hit. T Owens and Elizabeth's bother-in-law take a combined $11 increase. Cornered Cats is 5th $180 to $202. Now we have reached the point where, is the best RB in the NFL really worth 57% of a teams salary? L T @ $102 may become available. Let see at $74 and one position available, I could spend $106. Interrrrresting! Talk about a bargain, W Welker just missed the $25 hit, so he and S Graham have a combined hit of only $5. Free Beer is 6th $180 to $190. J Lewis and D Clark both increased $5. Mentor Manglers is 7th $173 to $187. His #1 rookie RB adds $8, A Gates adds $5, and the NE D adds $1.00. Graham DoCoMo is 8th and the last team to exceed $180 albeit only $2. This is the most envious team in the league. He wins the Super Bowl and has increases to B Westbrook at $8, R Moss at $9 and N Folk at $2, while only having to drop $2. Congratulations. Browns Rock is a special case. First of all being a Browns fan and hating the Colts for letting the Titans slip by them for a wild card berth. 2nd for already dropping 4 players to get to $135 only to have B Edwards take a $25 hit, P Manning $8, and T G $5. But the coup de grāce is Rob Bironas the Tennessee Titans place kicker, who scored 10 points in that exciting victory that propelled the Titans into the playoffs. His salary increased $2. His spot on Bs R team could be in serious jeopardy. Happy 2008 from the Opera Guy |

| Hi, Yea, I was noticing how close some of the lines got from tier to tier. I'm just glad the Packers rested Jennings which put him squarely in 11th and no increase for this year, perfect for my rebuilding team. And Witten was correctly figured, I just forgot to round him up to an even $17. He's supposed to be a Average of the #2 through #5 players as that is greater than the $10 or 20% increase. Happy New Year everyone! Later, WSWs |

| I thought I remember that the salary increases are only calculated based on the points through week #12. Isn't that the way it was done in prior years? I think Warp did it for the whole season including playoffs. Warp........you have to get more to do with your life!

| Actually, you are partially right. You are right in that we don't score Weeks 1-17. However it's based on weeks 1-16, including the playoffs. So I'll adjust some stuff and see what happens. Later, |

| Turns out I don't have to adjust a thing, the totals I used were through Week 16 already so it's all good. And I do have a life. It's called football, fantasy football, poker, oh yeah, I have a family I see once in a while too. ![]() Later, Jason |
