| As you may have noticed the missed FG that was returned for a TD by San Diego's Defense was not awarded any points in our league by the MFL software. The reason MFL did not give any points to our league for this play can be found under the Rules which is under the Reports link at each site. The system awards TDs according to the rules listed there. The system does not have a general category of defensive or special team TDs but each situational TD is listed separately and must be chosen when programming the scoring system. A Blocked Field Goal TD is listed but mistakenly not a Missed FG Return TD which is what the SD Defensive touchdown was scored by MFL. Had the attempt and consequent touchdown been blocked the system would have awarded the points. This was simply an oversight in programming the scoring software at the beginning of the year. Because I program just one league and then copy them to the other three is the reason all four leagues did not allow these points. There can be situations where no points are awarded by MFL for freak scoring plays but our rules specifically state "Defensive touchdowns include all kick returns" therefore I will correct the programming mistake and re-run the stats to allow for the points to be awarded. |
