Hey guys-- We have a formal trade protest in Erie League 8. With the trade deadline fast approaching in all leagues, this will probably be one of the last ones for you to consider for the year.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEMBERS - Please follow this link -- http://glffl.ipbhost.com/index.php?showtopic=452 -- to give your comments and final ruling in this matter. As always, if you are a member of this league, feel free to post that info but you need to abstain from the voting and the discussion.

LEAGUE MEMBERS -- Please follow the same link -- http://glffl.ipbhost.com/index.php?showtopic=452 -- for updates on the final ruling in this matter but let the BOD debate the issue without direct input on the message board. Members involved in the trade -- if you can, post a rationale on the league message board or on the discussion board as many board members ask for this as they are deciding.

Hey guys-- Just to give you a heads-up, a recent trade has officially been protested in this league. Thanks also for the recent comments about the mission of the Board of Directors-- we are collecting those comments and working on a constitution of sorts that will be unveiled after the season. For now, we will continue to operate under existing procedures (9 veto votes out of 15 members required to overturn a trade). Here is the trade in question:

* *Smurfin' USA gave up Alexander, Shaun SEA RB;Lewis, Jamal CLE RB;Coles, Laveranues NYJ WR
* *McBum's The Word gave up Bennett, Michael TBB RB;Henry, Travis DEN RB;Young, Selvin DEN RB; Year 2008 Round 3 Draft Pick from *McBum's The Word

Below is the rationale from the owner calling for the veto...

As a result, the protest has been forwarded to the GLFFL's Board of Directors, per the requirement as outlined in the league rules -- http://www.glffl.net/erie_rules.html -- and copied below:

"The league has the ability to call for a trade veto within 48 hours of the trade becoming official during the regular season and 72 hours of the trade becoming official during the off-season. Making a case to call for a veto vote must consist of something more substantial than "I don't agree with the trade and I want to vote against it." The owner calling for the veto should post a rationale on the league message board and send out an email to the commissioner for consideration by the entire league. Once this occurs, the trade will be voted on by a 15-member panel of the GLFFL's Board of Directors, consisting of the owners who have the longest tenure and most representation in the GLFFL. This way, deals can be decided by individuals who are unbiased since they are not a part of the league in question. In the event that members of the Board of Directors are involved in the trade in question, they must abstain from the voting procedure. Trades will be vetoed if 60 percent (nine panelists) vote for a reversal within the 48-72 hour period."

All Board Members: Please leave your opinions and then cast a vote in the thread to follow. One Board Members is in this league so we will have 14 participating in the vote and EIGHT veto votes are needed for the trade to be overturned.

Thanks,

As of 10:45 a.m. Saturday, 10 board members have voted for the trade to stand. Since it is now not possible to get enough veto votes with only four board members left to cast their ballot, the decision is final...

TRADE STANDS
