(MyFantasyLeague.com Fantasy Times Sources - Dec 30, 2007) In a week 17 Cyberspace Fantasy Football League classic, W1-BlackBirds squeaked by a tough DC1-Blitzburgh team by a score of 114 to 110, silencing a partisan crowd of 73,043.

Drew Brees

W1-BlackBirds were led to their 4 point victory by a 25 point effort from Drew Brees, who beat the Chicago Bears defense for 320 passing yards and 3 passing tds. With this performance, Brees was the number 5 ranked overall fantasy scorer for week 17. They also got help from a 24 point effort from Clinton Portis, who beat the Dallas Cowboys defense for 104 rushing yards and 2 rushing tds in addition to 27 receiving yards.

"The important thing is that we won," W1-BlackBirds coach Frank Holloway said.

DC1-Blitzburgh were helped out in a losing cause by a 26 point effort from Nate Burleson, who beat the Atlanta Falcons defense for 119 receiving yards and 2 receiving tds. With this performance, Burleson was the number 4 ranked overall fantasy scorer for week 17. They also got help from a 23 point effort from Tom Brady, who tore apart the New York Giants defense for 356 passing yards and 2 passing tds.

"They stepped up and made the plays," DC1-Blitzburgh coach Stan said.

Causing further embarrassment, DC1-Blitzburgh could have scored 118 points and earned the win with their best lineup, but Stan left key players like Brandon Jacobs and his corresponding 16 points on the bench.

DC1-Blitzburgh drew the short straw with their schedule this week, as their point total would have resulted in a win against 10 out of 10 other potential opponents in week 17.

This brings the record for W1-BlackBirds to 8-5-1, and drops DC1-Blitzburgh to a record of 10-3-1.
