News Articles > Smith banged up

(FFChamps) Lions running back Kevin Smith left yesterday's loss to the Rams because he "aggravated a shoulder injury and also had a foot problem," according to the Detroit News. In his absence Maurice Morris rushed the ball 14 times for 63 yards. "We'll have to see sort of where Kevin is," Lions head coach Jim Schwartz told the paper afterward. "He got beat up a little bit in the game, a couple different things. It wasn't a situation where he was benched or anything. Mo was being effective, Kevin was limited. I think he could have gone back in the game. But the decision was made to keep him out."

Analysis: This will be an interesting situation to keep an eye on because Morris could start earning more and more playing time if the offense continues to struggle and/or Smith keeps getting dinged up. Look for Smith to appear on this week's injury report, but at this point we would expect him to play next week against the Seahawks.
