Honolulu Sharks' New Home Will Be Complete In Weeks
Honolulu Sharks Press Service February 20, 2007 Honolulu, Hawaii - The brand new, state of the art facility that the Honolulu Sharks will call home in 2007 is almost completely finished. The stadium will be called Kamehameha Stadium, named for King Kamehameha II, who once ruled Hawaii with his wife, Queen Emma, but will be referred to as "The Shark Tank". The Shark tank is being built in the Honolulu Maritime Center in downtown Honolulu and will seat 68,000 screaming Shark fans. The Stadium will have a fully retractable roof that can open or close completely in under twenty minutes. Kamehameha Stadium will feature the largest jumbotron Scoreboard in all of football and will also feature an underwater aquarium full of sharks, and other fish as well. There will also be a special section where you can get up close and personal with the Sharkettes, the Shark cheerleaders and have a time of meet and greet before and after each home game. The second-year franchise looks to rebound from a dismal inagural season (3-11) and hopes to be much improved this year. With the #1 draft pick in his hip pocket, Johnathan Higgins, the GM, will be scouting the NFL combine and the college Pro Days as well as those players not protected by other owners, and vows to have a winning team this season. |

Colonels Still Homeless For 2007 Armed Forces Field Will Not Be Ready In Time For The 2007 Season
By: INEEDA SCOOP, Memphis Press-Scimitar Investigative Reporter MEMPHIS DEFENSE DEPOT, Memphis, TN, February 13, 2007 - The EPA and the city of Memphis announced at a press conference yesterday that Armed Forces Field would not be free of toxic waste in time for the start of the 2007 WFFL season. Colonels owner Nolan Buchanan, speaking at the same press conference, said that the Colonels may have to play the 2007 season in another locale. |

By: INEEDA SCOOP, Memphis Press-Scimitar Investigative Reporter MEMPHIS DEFENSE DEPOT, Memphis, TN, January 20, 2007 Unauthorized toxic waste has been found stored illegally on the property of Armed Forces Field, the home of the WFFL's Memphis Colonels, spokespersons for the Environmental Protection Agency and the Federal Bureau of Investigation revealed today in a press conference near the site. They also announced that clean-up of the hzardous materials had already begun and that the facility would remain closed until that process was completed and the area was certified as safe for humans. No one would speculate on how long the stadium, home to the Colonels for 5 seasons and recent site of World Bowl V, would be unuseable. "There was no immediate danger to fans or employees of the team", said EPA scientist Hal Eluya, PhD. "The containers of the toxic waste were all found to be intact and free of leakage. The danger here lies in the risk of future leakage, since the site was not prepared for toxic waste according to EPA guidelines." According to the government officials, the toxic waste was buried at the site years before the the stadium was built and may have been part of the reason the Colonels CFO, R.U. Ready, was able to get the land for such a low price from the Department of Defense. No evidence has surfaced that anyone in the Colonels organization other than Ready knew about the toxic waste or was involved in the subsequent cover-up. Also at the press conference was Nolanbuc, WFFL commisioner and owner of the Memphis Colonels. "Obviously, we are all mortified by this turn of events," Nolanbuc stated, "The fans have always been the #1 priority of this league, not only their entertainment, but their safety as well. We will do whatever we need to do to make sure this franchise has a safe and clean place to play, even if it means moving the franchise until this stadium is safe or until a new venue is built in Memphis." That statement touched off a flurry of follow-up questions about where the team would move to, and the chances Memphis could keep the team. "Memphis is one of the charter cities in this league," the commisioner replied, "The Colonels have been around as long as the league itself, and that isn't going to change. And Memphis is a vital fan base for this league, we don't want to disenfranchise our fans here in the Mid-South. But the league and the team will do whatever it takes to survive this setback. And we will make sure that there is WFFL football in the 'Bluff City' in the long run. But in the short run, difficult choices may have to be made, and we ask Colonels fans to bear with us through this difficult time." Calls to the league office with follow up questions were refered to the FBI offices in downtown Memphis. |

2006 Head-to-Head Record: (Week 4) Mad Mules 102 | Heroes 80 |

The World Fantasy Football League's chamionship game this year feaures the Canada Courier du Bois and the Washington Federals, two of the most successful franchises in the history of the league. In week 1 of the 2006 season, the Canada fell to the Federals in Washington, 134-113. This week, they will battle for World Bowl glory at Armed Forces Field, the home stadium of the Memphis Colonels, defending World Bowl Champions. For Canada Courier du Bois, this first trip to the World Bowl is the crowning achievment of what has been a history of regular-season success that falls short of post-season expectations. Two years ago, the Courier du Bois won the Radical Division and and the first playoff berth in franchise history, only to be sent packing in the first round of the postseason by these same Federals. Since that game, Canada has not beaten the Feds, falling to them last year and in the first week of this year. Yet, the Courier amassed an impressive 9-5 record on their way to winning their second Radical Division title, and then rolled over last year's World Bowl runner-up St. louis, 136-88 in the first round of the playoffs. Now that the Courier du Bois have reached the big game, nothing could be sweeter to Canadian fans than avenging their playoff loss of two years ago, and winning their first league championship in the home stadium of their hated arch-rivals. The World Bowl stage is familiar territory for this Washington Federals squad, they already have one World Bowl Championship banner hanging from the top of National Coliseum in suburban Washington, D.C. Now, with an unprecedented two World Bowl appearances in three years, they seek to claim the mantle of a dynasty, as only the second team in league history to win two titles, and the only team to do so in such a short span of time. Once again this year, the Feds won the Awesome division, and again as in 2004, the Feds advanced to the World Bowl by beating the Wild Card Champion Houston Mudbugs, 95-66. Will history continue to repeat itself and reward the Washington Federals with another win and another title, or will a new tradition begin with the Canada Courier du Bois being the first non-US team to win the World Bowl? This week on the painted steel tarmac of Armed Forces Field, the matter will be decided, and a champion will be crowned. |

Game Of The Week: Week 14
The season finale of Game Of The Week series is a divisional battle in the grand tradition of the GOTW. In the season's final week, the Bronx Goombas cross the border to face the Canada Courier du Bois in a battle that holds serious implications for one, or perhaps two of the four playoff spots. Two of the top teams in the WFFL square off for a shot at the division crown, and perhaps even the #1 seed in the postseason. Da Bronx Goombas have been the Cinderella story of the WFFL this season. After years without so much as a winning season, the Goombas have become a totally new team this year, already securing their first ever winning season, and are well on their way to claiming their first ever division title, and their first ever ticket to the playoffs. To accomplish those goals, the Bronx squad has but one task remaining, win this week. Lose, and they will fall behind Canada in the tight playoff race, and may fall once again out of the playoffs altogether. The WFFL's Canadian franchise is no stranger to the playoffs, having won the Radical division in 2004. But playoff success has alluded the Courier du Bois, and they hope that this year is the year they can push all the way to the World Bowl and hang a championship banner in their stadium without the words "Radical Division" on it. Like the Goombas, if Canada wins this game, they are assured of a playoff berth. Even if they fall this week, the CCDB may yet make it into the playoffs, but they will have to hope that other teams can eliminate their competition. The Goombas and Courier du Bois are both poised for postseason play, but each team stands in the other's way of winning the division and grabbing a high seed in the playoffs. With the all of the playoff races so tight this year, there is little margin for error at this late point of the season. It may not be "win or go home", but this game will certainly be the key to one teams playoff journey. Da Bronx cases Canada in this week's high-stakes Game Of The Week. |

Game Of The Week: Week 13
With only 1 week to go before the playoffs begin, and with so many tight playoff races still brewing, one might wonder if the WFFL media office had been pumped full of laughing gas the day the chose this week's Game Of The Week. Neither of the two teams have a prayer of making the playoffs this season, and one could safely assume that neither team has anything left to play for. One could not be more wrong (except about the laughing gas, that part is true.) The LostBoys of Los Angeles are one of the original WFFL teams, having been around since the league's inception in 2001, and winning one championship along the way (2002.) But recent seasons have not been kind to the L.A. franchise, as losses have piled up and playoff dreams have failed to materialize. However, the LostBoys are on a two-game win streak, and are only one game behind in the Gnarly division. So, while the playoffs are a longshot at this point, a 7-7 record and respect in the league are still in the LostBoys sights. Although the Missouri Mad Mules will not make the playoffs (or even break .500) this season, at 4-8 they have already secured their most sucessful season so far, having gone 3-11 in their first season in the league last year. Progress is what this team's mantra has been this season, building momentum toward a competitive and even successful team in the WFFL in the long run. That progress could continue this week with a win over their division rivals, the LostBoys. Two of Gnarly division foes square off in a battle for respect, pride, and avoiding last place in the division. The Missouri Mad Mules host the L.A. LostBoys for this weeks Game Of The Week. |

Game Of The Week: Week 12
American Thanksgiving Weekend This week's Game Of The Week features a clash of two division leaders, in a game that may be a preview of the playoffs. While fans are passing the giblet gravy and feasting on cranberry sauce, these two teams hope to dominate in the passing game and eat up yards on the field. The Goombas are one of this year's breakout teams. Traditionally an "also-ran" in the WFFL, the Goombas hope to parlay their Toilet Bowl win last year into a playof spot this year. At 7-4 atop the division, they are well on their way a realizing that dream. The Bombers are one of the league's more dangerous teams on any given week. However, despite their reputation as a spoiler, the Bombers have never been able to extend that success int othe playoffs. This year, however, they are nuking the competition, with a one-game lead in the division, and increasingly large weekly fantasy point totals. When the Goombas and Bombers square off this week, both will need a win to stay ahead of the pack in their repsective divisions. A win could vault them ever closer to one of the 4 coveted playoff spots; while a loss could send them tumbling into the Wild Card race...or worse. Game Of The Week: Week 11
With only 4 weeks left in the regular season, all of the playoffs races are razor-close, and no team has been mathmatically eliminated from the playoffs. 8 of the 12 teams in the league are in a tie for a division lead or the Wild Card, and two other teams are only 1 game back in their division. Ten - count them - ten teams are still in a virtual dead-heat for only 4 playoff spots, late in what might be the closest, most exciting season of WFFL football ever. This week's Game Of The Week features two of those teams tied for the lead in their respective divisions, and also still in serious contention for the Wild Card. The San Fransisco Scoobies have traditionally been one of the elite teams in the WFFL. They have more playoff appearances than any other current team, and are in the top 5 for all-time winning percentage. However, the Scoobs have never won the big prize, the Sal Collaziano trophy crowning the WFFL champions. This season, they are fighting once again with the St. Louis Kings for domination of the Gnarly Division, where it looks like the winner may not be decided until the final game of the season. The Canada Courier du Bois are one of the most storied teams in the league, one of the charter members of the WFFL, and also among the highest in winning percentage all-time. And yet, despite the team's consistently good play, post-season success has elluded the Canadian franchise. This year, the CCDB are once again among the upper echelon of teams fighting for a post-season berth: they have held serve in the tough Radical Division, and have been very competitive outside of the divison, going 4-2 in interdivisional matchups. For either San Fran or Canada, a win this week would be a huge leap towards grabbing one of the 4 playoff spots still dangling out of reach. A loss this week would be a serious, if not crippling, blow to playoff hopes and dreams. The San Francisco Scoobies and the Canada Courier du Bois fight it out for their day in the sun, in this weeks Game Of The Week. |

Game Of The Week: Week 10
The Washington Federals and the Baltimore Bombers are not only bitter division rivals, but with the two cities only an hour's drive apart, fans of either team can and do come in droves to the opponent's stadium, nullifying any home field advantage and making the action in the stands almost as interesting as the play on the field. Now both teams are in the hunt for the Awesome Division crown, and the rivalry has never been more heated. Washington has had a very sucessful season by any measure this year. They have beaten quality opponents and racked up a huge cache of fantasy points on the way to a 6-3 record so far. Now they sit not only atop their division, but have the inside track to the #1 seed in the playoffs as well. However, for the Feds to complete their return to playoff glory, they will have to face some tough competion within their own division in the coming weeks. The Baltimore Bombers launched to a 2-0 season start this year, only to nosedive into a 4-game slump by week 6. But Bmore would once again gain altittude, tearing through a 3 game win streak that has them flying high as a playoff contender once again. But in order for the Bombers to reach their playoff target, they will have to run the gauntlet of some of the WFFL's best teams in the final stretch. It all starts this week, when the Feds come to town with the division lead on the line. The Feds and Bombers - the top two teams in the Awesome division - will square off not once, but twice in the final 5 weeks of the season, with the division crown up for grabs and a possible Wild Card even for the loser. This Week's Game Of The Week features two legitimate playoff contenders, in a game that will very likely help to shape the playoff picture for the entire league. |

Game Of The Week: Week 9
With the 2006 WFFL season well into the second half, most all of the 12 teams in the league are still in contention for a playoff berth. Besides the division leaders, there are 7 teams within 1 game of the lead in their respective divisions. Two of those close contenders square off this week in Houston, where the Dublin Heroes visit Hooters Stadium to take on the Mudbugs. Dublin makes the trip deep into the heart of Texas having climbed back to .500 with an upset of Da Bronx Goombas last week. The Heroes have been in contention late in the past few seasons, only to fade in the final weeks. This year, they have struggled in some close games, but are coming into this week at 4-4 only 1 game behind the Awesome Divison and Wild Card leaders. A win this week would, at worst, keep them in contention in both races for another week; and perhaps even vault them into the lead. After 8 weeks of the season, the Houston team knows they will have a tough fight to make the playoffs, despite having a 5-3 record and some big wins already this year. They are tied with 2 other Radical division teams for second in the league and for the Wild Card lead. With that many other teams in contention, things are bound to be interesting in the Radical division this season. But a win this week gaurantees the Mudbugs a place in the scrum for a playoff berth. Both the Heroes and the Mudbugs are poised this week for a playoff run, but both teams need to make a move soon or risk being left behind in the sprint to the postseason. For one team in this Texas tussle, a spot at the grown-up table for another week in assured...for the other, a serious setback that will damage their playoff plans in the hypercompetative late season push. Dublin looks to get lucky in H-town in this week's Game Of The Week. |

Game Of The Week: Week 8
This week's Game Of The Week features two teams who are in very different situations, but are both very much in the playoff picture at the halfway point of the season. Despite the fact that the Houston Mudbugs have had a pretty good season so far, not to mention a winning record, they are still technically last in the Radical Division, one game out of first. However, at 4-3, the Mudbugs are still in an excellent position to control their own playoff destiny. But they will have to win some tough games to remain in contention, and the first tough game happens this wekk. The Washington Federals have been dominant at times this season, outscoring their opponents by an average of nearly 14 points per game, while compiling a 5-2 record for the first half of the season. And even though the Feds are riding a 4-game win streak, they have lost some crucial games this season, and cannot afford many more losses in the tough Awesome Division. Both teams appear to be in the playoff mix, but both teams need a win this week, albeit for differeent reasons. The Feds need to keep piling up wins going into a tough stretch of divisional games later in the season; and the Mudbugs need a win to stay within striking distance of the top teams in their own division. The Houston Mudbugs visit the Capital City to play the Washington Federals in this week's Game Of The Week. |

Game Of The Week: Week 7
Perhaps it isn't a clash of Titans from a record standpoint, but this week's Game Of The Week between the Los Angeles LostBoys and the Oklahoma Annihilators is very important to the two cities involved. A win might keep a team's playoff dreams alive for another week, a loss will surely signal the beginning of Toilet Bowl preparations. The Lost Boys have been the hard-luck team of the league this year, suffering a 5-game losing streak to begin the season, despite scoring well in several games. Last week, however, fortune smiled on the LostBoys, as they got their first win of the season. Now L.A. hopes to turn that victory into a winning streak, and possibly a longshot at the playoffs. The Annihilators came into the league this year with high expectations: expectations of playoff contention and a championship ...expectations which have yet to be realized. But neither the dissapointing record nor the impending move of the team to Hawai'i next season has dampened the enthusiasm of the Oklahoma City fans, and their hope for WFFL glory still burns yet. The WFFL's underdogs fight it our this week in a match-up with huge implications for the season of both teams, the Oklahoma Annihilators visit tinsel town to face the Los Angeles LostBoys in this week's Game Of The Week. |

Game Of The Week: Week 6
As the half-way point of the season nears, the St. Louis Kings and Da Bronx Goombas are two teams with some striking similarities. Both franchises are tied for the lead in their respective divisions, the Kings in the Gnarly Division and Da Goombas in the Radical; both despite being one of the lower scoring teams in the division overall. And both teams are still smarting from disappointments last season, and both clubs have something to prove this season. The Kings were a few points short of winning the WFFL championship last year, after a monster 11-3 season in 2005. Now once again, they are among the top teams in the Gnarly Division, along with their long-time rivals, the San Francisco Scoobies. A win for the Kings would set them up to claim sole possesion of 1st in the division, a loss would drop them back to .500 in the rest of the pack. The Bronx franchise had high hopes last year, and with their best start ever looked to be in for a great season. But the wins didn't continue as the Goombas fell out of playoff contention, salvaging some redemption with a victory in Toilet Bowl 4. This season, Da Goombas have gotten off to an even better start, beginning 3-0 and currently holding at 4-1. Could this finally be the year of the Goomba? This week's Game Of The Week pits two WFFL heavyweights in a bout with possible playoff implications. Peyton Manning and the Goombas host Carson Palmer and the Kings in an old-fashioned WFFL slugfest. |

Game Of The Week: Week 5 The 2006 Canadian Thanksgiving Classic As families and friends gather throughout the great nation of the North for Thanksgiving, several thousand fans of the Canada Courier du Bois have another reason to gather at the Champ de Courier in Montreal this week: a holiday match with their arch rivals, the hated Memphis Colonels. Memphis comes north of the border with the division lead and a 3-1 record, with their only loss coming at the hands of these same Courier du Bois in Week 2. Now the Colonels have invaded Canada on a mission for revenge, and for their first win against the Canadian franchise since 2004. Canada, by contrast, currently sits at the bottom of the Radical Division, with a .500 record and alot on the line. Not only will a loss this week lock them in last place for another week as the only Radical division team with a losing record, but losing to the Colonels...especially at home...isn't something that Canadians discuss in polite company. National pride and playoff dreams are at stake this week in a holiday classic that is sure to become a WFFL tradition. "The WFFL's Oldest Rivalry" continues as North meets South in the Canadian Thanksgiving Day Classic. |

Totally Rad! The Radical Divison Goes 4-0 in Week 4 With a week of divisional games looming next week, getting a win in week 4 would be a serious boost for any team hoping to stay ahead in their division. However, in the Radical Division, the status quo would remain for one more week. All four Radical Division franchises hosted games this week against foes from outside the division, and all four teams defended their home turf with a win. The Colonels marched over the Annihilators, 104-79; and the Mudbugs usurped the Kings, 101-67. Da Goombas fitted the LostBoys with cement slippers, 86-72; and the Canada Courier du Bois shot down the Baltimore Bombers, 98-74. In other games this week, the Mad Mules kicked the Dublin Heroes, 102-80; and Washington saved the Awesome Division from the 0-4 shutout with a come-from-behind win over the San Francisco Scoobies, 135-119. |

Game Of The Week: Week 4
One week ago, this week 4 match-up looked like a possible clash of division leaders. A battle between two teams with a perfect record and a commanding lead in their respective division. But week 3 took it's toll, and both the Kings and the Mudbugs were upset by divisional rivals. This week, both of these teams are looking for a little redemption...and revenge. The St. Louis Kings once again started this season red hot, crushing the Annihilators in week 1 and beating the LostBoys handlily a week later. Then again, the KIngs expect success, after a 12-2 season and a trip to World Bowl IV last year. But in 2006, the St. Louis fans will settle for nothing less than a championship, and the road to that crown passes right through Houston this week. The Houston Mudbugs are also a team on the verge of greatness, coming within a few fantasy points of the playoffs in their first year in the league last season. And this year, they have continued their rise to power, knocking off a perennial playoff franchise in the Scoobies, and last year's Toilet Bowl champion, Da Bronx, before falling last week to 2-1. In this week's Game Of The Week, two playoff contenders square of in Texas at a piviotal point in the season for both franchises; the winner will rise to prominence in their respective division, the loser will fall to .500 and suffer a blow to their postseason aspirations. |

Game Of The Week: Week 3
After two weeks of play, only three teams remain undefeated in WFFL, one in each division. However, none of these teams will square of this week, instead, each will play a division rival to remain atop the standings. One of the more intriguing of these matchups is the 2-0 Baltimore Bombers making their only trip outside North America this season to face the 1-1 Dublin Heroes. The Bombers are off to perhaps their best start ever, beating a tough Lostboys team and besting their division foe Oklahoma for a perfect record so far. Howvever, to secure their lead in the Awesome Division and keep pace with the other 2-0 teams, the Bmore faces a tough road test at Dublin. Dublin looked positively puny in week 1, putting up only 51 points in a loss to the defending champion Memphis Colonels. Then in week 2, the Heroes exploded with 121 points to beat a strong Washington Federals team. Which team will show up this week, and will their best be enough against the division leaders? The bottom line, the winner of this game get to claim the title of Awesome Division leader for at leat one week. A loss may mean a tie for second for the visiting Bobmers, but a 1-2 record would put a serious dent in the home team's early playoff hopes. |

Game Of The Week: Week 2
After one week of play in the WFFL, only one game this week features a match-up of undefeated teams...which makes the intradivisional game between the Goombas and the Mudbugs the obvious choice for this week's Game Of The Week. Last season, the Goombas went on a roller-coaster ride: starting the season 2-0, then missing the playoffs with an eventual 6-8 record, only to come on strong through the consolation bracket to win Toilet Bowl 4. Once again this year, da Bronx has started well. But this early divisional test will go along way to determining if this is finally the year of the Goombas, or if they are once again doomed to fade. Houston joined the WFFL in 2005, and although they had a rough 0-3 start, the Mudbugs came on strong in mid-season to come within a tie-breaker of winning the Radical Division and going to the playoffs. This year, the Bugs are out to dominate the Radical Division and prove that they weren't just a flash in the pan. Alot is at stake in this early season Game Of The Week, the winner will be 2-0 and in the driver's seat in the Division. The loser will fall to .500, and will be left trying to climb back out of the rest of the pack. |

Game Of The Week : Week 1
The opening week of the 2006 WFFL season will feature six exciting match-ups as all 12 teams struggle to open the season with a win. Perhaps one of the most intriguing games this week sees the defending WFFL champions traveling across the Big Pond for their only game this season outside of North America. Awaiting the champs is a perennial powerhouse, the Dublin Heores, who have beaten the Colonels every time they have played since 2002. The Colonels have a huge target on their backs this season, after winning the 2005 WFFL championship despite a 7-7 regular season record. They bring back the passing tandem of quarterback Marc Bulger and wide reciever Randy Moss, but gone are the star runningbacks Brown and Westbrook. At the end of last season, the Heroes barely missed a chance at both the Division crown and the Wild Card. This year, Dublin is shooting for the big prize and will once again have all-star running back Shaun Alexander leading the ground attack, and an upgraded quarterback position with the arm of Tom Brady. The first Game Of The Week of the 2006 season promises to be a barn-burner, with Dublin and Memphis being the 3rd and 4th highest scoring teams last year. Look for high scores and high drama in what may be an early playoff preview. |

'Draft Fever' Hits Dublin Heroes Gear Up For Saturday's Event
With the forthcoming draft in the WFFL this Saturday, “draft Fever” has hit Dublin with reporters and fans alike trying to work out Dublin’s strategy to maximise their squad for the coming season. As ever Heros owner Gerard Proudfoot was upbeat.
“Well the groundwork is being completed today by our backroom staff for the draft. We have spent a while now looking at options and we may have a few tricks up our sleeve. Obviously having Shaun as our Franchise Player is a huge plus and we’ll try to build on this Saturday”.
In a rousing press Conference at Croke Park, the Heros Stadium, Alexander hinted that the WFFL had yet to see the best of him. “I’m hoping to take my game to the next level and if so Dublin fans will be in for a treat.”
When asked about the venue for the Draft, Prefab stated “We’re delighted to be travelling to Oklahoma this year and we know that we’ll get a good welcome from the fans over there.” Reporter also questioned Prefab over the forthcoming announcement of the vacant Head Coach slot. “we’ve been through the recruitment process and we’ve made an offer to a number of people. Watch this space. We may end up surprising you with our staff this year”.
A reporter from the Memphis Flyer asked Prefab about the rivalry that was starting to grow between the Heros and the Colonels due to some smack talk emanating from the Colonels Camp. “Look, myself and Nolan have a great working relationship and as far as I’m aware, there is always good-natured banter between the two clubs. We will be rolling out the red carpet to the Colonels when they visit in September and we hope the same will happen when we visit Memphis next. Mind you, come Game Time we’ll show ‘em no mercy and after the game, whatever the result, we’ll show em some good old Irish Hospitality, as we will every team that visits the Emerald Isle this year. But make no mistake, we are on a mission. We want to spread the love of American Football globally and its always nice to put one over the American Franchises whilst doing so!!!”

INEEDA SCOOP, Memphis Press-Scimitar Memphis Defense Depot - The Memphis Colonels announced today that they have signed a 5-year contract with the U.S. Department of Defense for the naming rights to the Memphis stadium. The facility, nicknamed “The Barracks” will be renamed “Armed Forces Field” in honor of America’s soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines. Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld was on hand for the announcement, and expressed his satisfaction with the deal. “What better facility to honor our fighting men & women than the stadium where a team named the ‘Colonels’ play?” quiped Secretary Rumsfeld. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but a source revealed on condition of anonymity that the naming rights were granted to the DOD in exchange for allowing the stadium to be built for free on the site of the former Memphis Defense Depot, which is currently an EPA-designated toxic danger zone. Colonels Owner, Coach Rally The Troops
The Memphis Colonels’ 2006 campaign officially got underway today with the team’s press conference at the opening of training camp. Naturally, the bulk of the questions from the assembled representatives of the international media revolved around how the Colonels planned to defend their 2005 Championship. Team owner Nolan Buchanan referred those questions to Colonels coach, G.I. Joe. “While we were obviously pleased with the end result of last season, we are well aware that a 7-7 season will not cut it in a war-zone like the WFFL,” Coach Joe said. “Due to the negative effects of “casualties of war” on our team last season, depth at key positions will definitely be a focus as we head into the 2006 draft.” Buchanan echoed the coach’s thoughts, “A good draft will be vital to success in our division. We can’t go 1-5 in this division again and expect to make the playoffs in 2006.” When asked about his confidence in the coaching staff to deliver wins, Buchanan expressed support for the current regime. “This team has never had a losing season, folks. Since Coach Joe joined us in 2003, we have made the playoffs twice, and won the Championship once. I don’t know what more I could ask of him.” Mr. Buchanan closed the press conference with a statement praising the other owners for their dedication and loyalty to the league in the face of so many changes this season. “This league just keeps getting better and better, and the lion’s share of the credit goes to a group of owners who are committed to excellence.”

The World Fantasy Football League called a press conference today at WFFL headquarters just outside of Memphis, TN to give the world the first look at the league's new and improved championship trophy. The new "Sal Collaziano Trophy", which stands nearly one meter tall, is a stylized globe resting on a pedestal, all depicted in gold. WFFL Commissioner Nolanbuc stated that the new look of the trophy, in addition to the new WFFL logo unvieled over a week ago, represents the new identity of the league; while keeping the name of the trophy, named after the the man who brought the original league owners together, represents the dedication of the league to it's roots. The commissioner further stated that the new logo and new trophy, as parts of the league's new identity, would eventually replace any image of the old logo and trophy in all WFFL banners and displays, and versions of the new trophy will be presented to all past WFFL champion teams. |
