| I don't mean to make it sound like I don't want the #1 pick, but did we change the rules? Last that I remember was that the non-playoff teams were in the first group, ranked by points for, which I think would put Tennessee #1. |

| Not sure what draft order you are referring to, but you are correct. I had volunteered to calculate the draft order at the beginning of the season, but hadn't gotten to it this yet. And I was going to check with JD on the specifics. The draft order is 2 groups ranked by fewest points scored. First the non-playoff teams ranked 1-8 then the playoff teams. The actual rule wording is "The draft order is determined by the total number of points scored by a team during the previous season and by the team's playoff status. The teams are divided into two pools: playoff teams and non-playoff teams. All non-playoff teams draft before all playoff teams. The non-playoff team with the fewest total points the previous season drafts first each round; the playoff team with the most total points the previous season drafts last each round; etc. (Thus, the non-playoff team with the most points drafts eighth while the playoff team with the fewest points drafts ninth. It's not that complicated.) "Total number of points" is now defined simply as a team's "points for" in the standings. (*Note that this is a change from the old method.*)" | |

| You guys are absolutely correct. I simply divided playoff and non-playoff and used are normal tie-breaker. I always forget to use the points order. Here's an idea: during the offseason -- hopefully SOON -- I will assemble and post a CURRENT version of the league rules. I'll be that's something we can ALL agree to.

| Sounds good. I had tracked down an old copy of the constitution through the wayback machine, but since I've had to reformat the PC I was using, any emails from even this round of the draft were history for me. It was just weird seeing my team listed first in anything.

| Didn't we change the draft order though? I made a point about how Minnesota won the league last year and still was able to draft at the 8th or 9th spot. Or did we simply make the winner of the MFL the last pick? | |

| Moreover, I am totally against draft order being determined by fewest points scored. Any owner who has to endure a crap season (translation: losing games regardless of how many points were scored or not) which consequently ensures them the worst MFL record should have the first pick regardless. I am sorry but VV had to put up with the frustrations of only totallying 4 wins (and 2 ties on top of that) and thusly in my book should get first pick. Tenn might have had the fewest points but he also enjoyed one more victory than VV was able to . . . just my two cents. | |

| To add to the discussion on draft order, record is more 'NFL-Like' in nature. It doesn't matter how many points you score in the NFL, but what your record is: Detroit has 236 points, TB has just 151. Yet Detroit has 2 wins, TB 3. Detroit has a worse record and will get the higher pick. If the overall records are tied, then it goes to the team with the lower division record. Still tied? Either head to head or go with the power rankings... That should cover just about every possible combination. |

| Medicine Hat Vicars:> I am sorry but VV had to put up with the I end up getting the worse of the record v. points side of it pretty much every year, so I'm certainly not opposed in theory to changing the rule. I don't know about changing it now for the upcoming draft, though, as much as it would benefit me. And the truly scary thing was that, if Drew Brees didn't go totally ape-wild, I would have somehow snuck into the playoffs in our crappy conference. |
