| Semi-new guy asking a question here... can we make trades that include conditional picks (for example... "here's a 3rd, but if x, then you get a 1st" or something like that)? The onus would be on the owners to finalize the trade once the (very clear and quantitative) condition is known. | |

| no it is an interesting idea that was discussed when they league rules were in the process of being made but we came to the conclusion it would be tough to track if anyone can think of a easy way for a commish to track conditional picks for 2 years then it is something we can discuss | |

| Fair enough. Regarding tracking... easy. The trade partners would agree to the trade and send to the Commish. The onus would be on the owners to execute that part of the trade once the condition is known. Disputes sh/would be non-existent because the condition would have to be clear and measurable ("5 NFL starts," "150+ points," "top 20 at the position at EOY," etc.). THAT condition would have to be approved by both the partners and the Commish. BUT if it has already been discussed and declined, that's okay... | |

| it was discussed during the creation of the league (between me and mario) before there was even owners. the rules and scoring were created 1st then owners were found it hasn't been discussed/talked about at any other time from my end (commish) 3 things come to mind right away: 1. trades would not be processed immediatly ( we would need to confirm that it was legal) 2. i would have to have a thread dedicated to conditional trades to keep track 3. we would have to define what could be used as conditional i really do like the idea my gut reaction is it could create more trade possiblities but after thinking about it it might not because teams might have so many conditional trades open that they are limited by them all (COMMISH) for the conditional i would prefer it to be easy to find nd not debateable and not some obscure conditions thati would have to track down | |

Dirty Sanchez's :> it was discussed during the creation of the league A player for a conditional pick could be. The player for nothing, then later on, nothing for the conditional pick. I think..... right? > 2. i would have to have a thread dedicated to Or email archives / spreadsheet like I do for my league. > 3. we would have to define what could be used as Would we? Not sure how creative we could get, but seems a conditional trade would be approved/disapproved on a per-trade basis (by the Commish). But, I guess collectively we could come up with a list beginning with the 3 I listed above as examples. >

| I like the idea, but it would hinder trading in some senses and open up collusion as well, specifically collusion if the conditions are unrealistic. Also let's say I trade Santana Moss for a conditional 1st round pick, if he achieves 70 pts over the next 7 weeks, I get a first from Troy. If he doesn't get 70 pts for the next 7 weeks, I get a 2nd and a 3rd from Troy. Problem there is that Troy now has his 1st, 2nd, and 3rd round picks committed. He is unable to move them until Santana hits the 70 pt mark. Great idea, just not feasible in a fantasy world. |

That's a much more complicated trade than I envisioned, but I guess that's why we have a message board discussion. I won't say I have the answer to all scenarios, but that particular one may not be approved since it involves 3+ picks in the same draft. That may open up a whole other can of worms though. Not sure what to think... We may end up w/ 33 restrictions or something.

The Orange Crush:> I like the idea, but it would hinder trading in this was my thought as well it would open some doors and close others what we need to do is start the list of suggestions/concerns in this thread and se what we can do and then by next year have a vote on what we have come up with

| the 1st step would be to determine what could and could NOT be used as conditions from the commish angle i would want it to be very simple and precise to avoid confusion and make it easier to handle | |

| before i waste my time and effort i put a poll on the main page about conditional trades it is open for 3 weeks so please vote in it vote yes if you want to try to get conditional trades added to the rules vote no if you like the current format conditional trades would not be brought in this year it would have to get voted at the end of the 07 season | |

| Conditional deals are great when dealing with the iffy type player. For example, I dealt for Priest Holmes in another league 2 years ago and we put a clause in if he did not finish in the top 25 I would get a 1st round pick. Sure enough, Priest had the neck problem and fell out of the top 25. |

| trying a new system out i am thinking this is how we can vote from now on my plan is to start a voting thread and set up a poll at the same time the thread will be used to discuss and ask questions and the poll will were we vote the reslts wil be hidden so no one knows how their vote will impact the results the results are shown when the poll closes or everyone votes ( i am assuming this is how it would work) | |
