the stats on the left are the current system and the stats on the right is the new system

as you can see the rb's that carry the ball lots gained 25 -30 pts (250-300 carries)

there are 5 more rb's in the top 60 in the new system

the league was created to get away from rb dominated leagues but it was also created to award pts for players who earned them

you know have to decide on what the direction on the league will take
Dirty Sanchez's Date Fri Feb 2 3:51:17 p.m. PT 2007
i am very confused/undecided on this topic

when i set this league up i didn't want a normal league that was rb depenedent or have a usual type rookie draft (rb,rb,rb,rb) but i also wanted reward top players at any postion

so when i heard owners say that rb's didn't have value i thought it was a good and bad thing but i did want to put to end this topic so i tried to find away that the league could vote on and put this situation to rest and make it fair to owenrs who drafted and traded away players under the current system

so this is the fairest solution that i could come up with

now it is up to the league on what they want to do because i still don;t have a clue on this subject
The Orange Crush Date Fri Feb 2 3:51:27 p.m. PT 2007
old system, league was founded on RBs not being so valuable, should remain that way since we drafted/traded based upon this premise.
Dirty Sanchez's Date Fri Feb 2 4:55:00 p.m. PT 2007
the thoughts i have are:
1. it hurts teams that have drafted and traded under the current system but by how much?
2. the league was formed with the intent of not making it rb dependent but i also intended to award the top players
3. it makes the middle/bottom tier ( part time backs who return kick/punts) less valauable  which i like
4. is the current system bad or does the new system make the league better?

i am really conflicted on this on

Old system. The running back scoring is just fine the way it is. No need to tinker.

The Orange Crush Date Fri Feb 2 5:48:01 p.m. PT 2007
my view on this is that a RB can actually gain 0.1 point for a negative or no gain......that makes no sense to me.

.1 pts for every positive carry i could probably live with, but if a RB carries and gets stuffed at the line of scrimmage, he get value for that? just doesn't make sense, we reward good players, this does not define a good player.  Jones-Drew, Thomas Jones, and many others have proven carries don't equate good players.

Oooooooohhhh, and Bobby's true feelings about MJD come out.

I can understand the argument against giving RB's points for rushing attempt, but I still the new system.
Cajun Critters Date Fri Feb 2 7:20:36 p.m. PT 2007 Edited Fri Feb 2 7:22:44 p.m. PT 2007
Keep the old system.  The new rule is unbalanced.  20 carries in a game = 2 points+yardage.  1 yard per carry x 20 carries = 2 points + 2 points.  With most NFL teams using two RBs during a game, there are only a handfull of teams using a 30 carry/game back. (KC, CIN, BUF, PIT, SEA)  It wouldn't be a great unbalance, but unbalanced nontheless.

I'm shocked you would vote for the new system.......I would think with Caddy, Maroney, and Gore you would vote against it  ;-)

As for Jones Drew, still don't like him long term, but can't deny what he did this year.

Yeah, what Critters said.... twice.  :-)

New system makes the premium of the RB more a premium.

Old system gets my vote.

Interesting concept but I think I like the current system.   Bobby's comment about positive yardage gains is intriguing on a larger scale.  Should a receiver or TE who gets no yardage really be awareded.  Interesting thought and maybe something we could look at next year.

i don't think the system allows scoring to be limited by positive or negative yards but i can look into it
