League Mission Statement
The purpose of the FantasyGuru.Com Magazine Expert League is to provide an opportunity for 12 fantasy football experts to showcase their fantasy football prowess as well as promote their respective publications while in competition with their peers for a Big Screen TV!

General League Set-Up
The league will consist of 12 teams. In 2005, we will have one division and play a 17 week schedule with no playoffs.  You will play each team once and 6 teams twice.
The winner will be the team with the best record after 17 weeks, the first tie breaker is total points and second is head to head match-up.  Owners will be able to carry up to a 20 man roster, with no injured reserve.
Starting lineups will consist of 1QB, 2RB, 3WRS, 1TE, 1 Flex (RB/WR), 1K and 1 Def/Special Team (9 starters total).

The League will be run via the myfantasyleague.com website

Draft

The draft will be 20 rounds and held in two parts.. 14 rounds in May and 6 rounds in August. The draft order will be determined randomly and posted once all owners are confirmed.  During the first 14 rounds owners must draft enough players to fill starting line-up.

Scoring
Passing:
- 1 pt per 20 yards
- 4 points for every passing TD.
- Minus one point (-1) for every interception thrown.
- 2 points for every 2-point conversion.
Rushing:
- 1 pt per 10 yards
- 6 points for every rushing TD.
- 2 points for every 2-point conversion.
Receiving:
- 1 pt per 10 yards
- 6 points for every receiving TD.
- 1 point per reception
- 2 points for every 2-point conversion.
Placekicking:
- 1 point - Extra Point
- 3 points - FG 1 yard - 39 yards
- 4 points - FG 40 yards - 49 yards
- 5 points - FG 50 yards - 50+ yards
OFFENSIVE FUMBLE RECOVERY FOR A TD-6 points for the TD-(this will cover any repeat of the "Keenan McCardell Incident" in 2003.) Do note that we will not however include fumble recovery yardage gained. So in the McCardell situation he got his 6 points for a TD, the Tampa Defense got nothing and McCardell got no yardage points.
Team Defense/Special Teams: (Def/ST consists of Punt return and Kickoff return, and Defensive formations)
- Sack: 1 pt
- Turnover recovery: 2 pts
- Any TD (Turnover, Kick return, Blocked FG): 6 pts
- Safety: 2 pts
- Shutout by defense: 5 pts
- Allowing 5 points or less in a game: 2 pts
All offensive players can score points in every category, including kickers. For example, if a team runs a fake FG and a kicker throws a TD pass, the kicker will receive the points for the TD pass and potentially yardage points depending on the distance of the TD.
Individual players will not be awarded points for punt or kickoff returns for TDs.

Just about every week, the NFL alters some if its initial stats from the previous week's games.  These changes can impact the outcome of fantasy games that were played that week.  In order to cover ourselves in these instances, scores do not become final until Fridays at 9pm eastern for the previous week's games. This gives both the chance for owners to benefit from changes as well providing a cut off so things do not get altered weeks after a fantasy game has taken place.

Starting Lineups
Starting Line-ups consist of
1QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1 RB/WR, 1TE, 1 Kicker and 1 Def/ST for 9 starting roster spots.
Owners enter their lineups via the league software on the homepage. Players will lock at the kick-off of THEIR game each week. In other words, if you have two players in late games you are debating about, you can wait up until kick off of their games to decide versus having to decide on them by kick-off of the early games. This could also come in handy on Monday nights if people have injury issues and another player available also playing Monday night.
If you fail to enter a line-up, the software will automatically default to the previous week’s line-up.

Waivers
Waivers will be conducted via a blind bidding process that is evaluated on Thursday evenings and is managed through the mfl.com website.  Each team has 100 blind bidding dollars for the entire 17 week season.  The ability to enter bids becomes available to owners at 1am EDT Tuesday and bids will be accepted until 6pm EDT on Thursdays.  (The weeks with Thursday games we will move up the bidding process to 9pm Wednesday nights)  Bids will be evaluated and winners registered by 9am EDT Friday mornings.

If there is a tie in bids, the team with the worse winning percentage will win the player. If there is a tie in record we move to total points etc, just as we do in the overall standings.

All bids will be in WHOLE dollars and $0 bids are not allowed to get players for free in the bidding process

Waiver moves following the completion of the bid process will be done on a First Come First Served (FCFS) basis. Players added in the FCFS process do not cost any blind bid dollars.  The FCFS process will not open until 12pm EDT on Fridays and will remain open until 5 minutes before kickoff of Sunday games.  Players dropped from a roster do not become available until the following week’s waiver process begins (1am EDT Tuesday mornings).

The first waivers process will not take place until prior to Week 2 (no preseason waivers).

Waivers will be allowed through week 17

Trades
Trades can be offered and accepted by owners via the website software. Trades do not need commissioner approval. This commissioner will assume that the caliber of owner in this league will not require commish approval necessary for every trade.

Trade Protests
Although trades do not need commissioner approval. The commissioner does reserve the right to put any questionable trade up to a league wide vote for reversal, based on the request (protest) of three or more owners via an email to the commissioner. The three-owner requirement must be met within 48 hours of a trade in order for an official protest vote to take place. If a sufficient number of owners within that 48-hour timeframe do not protest a trade, the trade stands.
If indeed there are three owners who protest a trade within 48 hours, approval of the trade will go up for a vote by teams not involved in the trade. Uninvolved owners will have 24 hours to cast their vote (via email to the commish). If an owner does not cast a vote, it will be interpreted as a vote to allow the trade. Reversal of any trade would require a majority vote of the uninvolved owners. (i.e. 5 of 8 in a two team trade, 4 of 7 in a three team trade, etc.) The commissioner does not vote. In the case of a trade being reversed it may be necessary to go back and alter scores of games already played. Such an activity could alter win/loss records as well as the standings.
Keep in mind that lopsided trades are acceptable, but collusion is not. I will once again assume that the caliber of owner in this league will make this a moot point.

General Trade Info
When conducting a trade, the software will not allow you to exceed the maximum roster spot number of 20. This can become an issue if you try to do a trade where one team gets more players than they give up. There are a few ways around this. One work around is to include in the trade the player (or players) you plan to cut anyway to get down to the 20 player limit. This way the trade is always a one for one ratio. Another option is to email the commissioner and have me cut the necessary number of players from your roster prior to accepting the trade. The final option is to cut players during the previous week’s waivers and not add any new players, so you start the new week with less than 20. All three work, but option #1 is the cleanest and does not require any commissioner assistance.

Trade Deadline
No trades will be allowed after kickoff of week 14.

Tiebreakers
In weekly head to head match-ups, ties will be broken manually by the commissioner.  The team with the highest scoring player on their STARTING roster is declared the winner (the same format they use in FANEX).  If there is a tie between those two players, we will move to the second highest scoring player and so on until the tie is broken.  If somehow every starter scores the same on both starting rosters we will move to bench players and continue the process using all 20 roster spots if necessary.  If somehow all 20 spots are a tie, we will flip a coin.

There are no playoffs, this is a 17 week season, winner take all, format.

Miscellaneous
While the rules stated above attempt to cover all possible areas of contention, there could arise a situation that will require commissioner intervention. If a situation of that sort takes place, the commissioner will review the facts and make the fairest ruling possible.
