| There has been a motion (Motion DKL220#1-Playoff Format) tabled to alter the leagues playoff format. The motion has been tabled by the RIP Republic's owner Mr. Martin. The motion up for debate relates to the leagues playoff format. The existing playoff format is the default setting for all of FantasyGemz Fantasy Football 12-Team Diamond Leagues and can be viewed at the bottom of the league homepage. The current playoff format is: #1 vs. #5, #2 vs. #6, #3 vs. #7, and #4 vs. #8. Mr. Martin requests league wide discussion on an alternate playoff format. The alternate playoff format is: #1 vs. #8, #2 vs. #7, #3 vs. #6, and #4 vs. #5. ____________________________________________________________ Following is the commissioners statement to be added to the league discussion tabled Motion DKL220#1-Playoff Format. The present playoff format was formulated mainly for reasons of parady during playoff matchups. In the alternate playoff format, the #1 seeded team has defeated the #8 seeded team 97% of the time. By switching the playoff format to its current default setting, it has been proven over the years in other keeper leagues to give the 8th seeded team a 40% percent chance of making it past the first round of playoffs and also greatly increases the 8th seeded team's opportunity to become eligible for a cash prize. Most likely the 8th seeded team is not a division winner or wildcard team. By allowing them an opportunity to avoid the best team in the league during the first round, a level of parady has been successfully reached. _____________________________________________________________ Please review the commissioners statement on Motion DKL220#1-Playoff Format carefully. It strongly advised that the owners discuss the pros & cons regarding the motion. A Live Chat has been activated on your leagues homepage to discuss the motion currently on the table. Once each owner has thoroughly considered the motion and relayed such consideration via the Live Chat, they should then place their vote for or against the motion. The motion will be tabled from April 3, 2006 through April 10, 2006 10:00pm ET. Once again, it is strongly suggested that ALL owners consider the motion CAREFULLY and not place their vote until ALL urguments have been heard. The motion is automatically accepted if seven (7) "Accept" votes are cast (likewise, it will be automatically rejected if enough "Reject" votes are cast). A missing vote from an owner at the time the poll is over is considered a "Reject" vote. |

| While i have only participated in playoffs that use the newly proposed #1 vs. #8 format, which i like, i am open to the original format of #1 vs. #4. I think it makes sense and would like to give it a try. |

| It makes absolutely no sense to have the current format. This league is for money, and is serious. Why sould the #8 seed benefit and the #1 seed be penalized. I am also strongly recomending that the prize pay outs be altered to reward league division winners as well as the top 2 in the play offs. Thanks, |

| I don't care one way or the other on the playoff format, but i will disagree that this league is for money. I'm in this to win, to play and to have fun. The money is simply an added bonus. I will also disagree that you are penalizing the #1 seed. If you truly are the #1 seed, it doesn't really matter who you play. It's not #1 vs. #2, #1 is playing the first (#5) of the second half (bad half) teams. |

| If all the money is awarded for the playoff winners and not regular season winners, which it is, then I agree with the #1 vs. #8. If you finish on top, you get to play the worst seed; makes perfect sense. |

| I agree with the division winners getting paid as well. The playoff format now sucks! Although I probably will be 8th and it would probably work out better for me. But screw it! Change the playoffs |
