| There are a number of reasons why i think the trading of 2007 draft picks before the 2006 season is a bad idea..... i expressed this "concern" to kirk as i considered protesting these latest deals.... i'll probably let the deadline pass without protesting, actually, i'm fairly certain the BOD would not overturn the deals anyway but i'm not sure i could succinctly put into words WHY dealsl like these should be overturned.... i mean, i could say that one team got donovan mcnabb for basically nothing until 2007 and i think something like that could affect the competitive balance for THIS year when 1 team benefits now and another team gets no benefit now..... then again, i protested a deal last season that was basically all draft picks that took place months before the season started and i felt as if 1 owner was basically sacrificing the current season which is inherently wrong and the BOD vote was a whitewash against overturning, which was unfortunate, but a fact of life ![]() now in this case, one team in NOT sacrificing this season because he has a good enough roster to compete and may not have even dealt his best quarterback....however, chances are he didn't gain anything but a LATE first round pick 14 months from now. but the other team really gave up nothing and markedly improved his team....an awful lot can happen in that amount of time and i just feel as if this opens a can of worms better left closed..... clearly 3 owners either don't agree or didn't consider this when making the deals....and that's fine, perhaps there isn't anything that needs to be considered.... i just wonder if anyone else agrees/disagrees with me..... by the way, can anyone name an offensive player projected in the first round of the 2007 nfl draft? hehehe...sorry, i digress....hehehe this is more a sounding out process as i might offer this up for a BOD review to see if new language for the rules might be added.....because at this point (and i hate to even give 1 owner THIS idea ), there is no reason that 2008/2009/2010 picks are not in play, at least based on the rules.

| I looked at this one too, as trading a legit top 5 QB in his prime for what will most likely be a late 1st round rookie pick next year seems like a very one-sided deal, which could very well upset the competitive balance of the league this year, since 1 owner basically gave up nothing this year (and probably very little next year). Not sure what can be done, I guess I just wish I'd gotten there first in this case.

| It's kind of hard to argue against allowing the trading of picks beyond this year since that's part of the whole point of a dynasty league. I guess the only argument that could be made is that since it's possible for someone to bail if it doesn't work out for them, then maybe there should be a restriction on how far in the future you can trade picks. Of course, if they already paid a deposit for the 2007 season, then I guess that kind of shoots that down. If everyone agreed to a restriction that would be fine with me, but that might be a tough sell given that this is a dynasty league. |
