| As you plan for next year, keep in mind that the Joe Kapp League has some unique rules when it comes to protecting players and carrying them over from year-to-year. Below, the rules are explained in a condensed format, as well as the necessary links to check on what players may be available for you to keep... Teams may keep a total of four (4) players from year to year, without restriction to specific positions. However, the four (4) players must come from the following portions of the initial draft - one (1) player drafted in rounds 1 through 5; one (1) player drafted in rounds 6 through 10; one (1) player drafted in rounds 11 through 15; and one (1) player drafted in rounds 16 through 20 or any of the four off-season free agent transaction rounds. Click here for that complete draft -- http://www.glffl.net/kapp_draft05.htm Click here for the complete rookie draft -- http://www.glffl.net/kapp_rookie_draft05.htm UNDRAFTED free agents acquired during the regular season are NOT ELIGIBLE to be protected for the following season. Note the wording here-- players that were part of the initial draft (in the link above) that were dropped and then reacquired ARE eligible to be protected. Players that were undrafted and acquired ARE NOT. Protected players may be carried over for ONE SEASON. After the completion of the following season, all protected players will become free agents and will be available to all teams at the subsequent year's draft. Click here for details-- note: all players listed as FA in the draft round were protected players in '05 and must be thrown back into the mix for '06 -- http://www.glffl.net/kapp_keepers05.htm Teams are not required to protect four (4) players each year - one (1) to four (4) players may be carried over, provided they come from the appropriate draft rounds. Teams that do not keep four (4) players will make up the roster deficiency with selections in the four off-season rookie rounds which in all years following year one will be the players you get to choose from for the Round 16-20 category. For example, you keep four players from the four rounds, draft 16 new you will have your 20 man roster. If you want to add anyone in the off-season rookie rounds, you'll have to drop to do so. If you keep less than four, you still have the four off-season rounds to make up the difference without needing to drop. Any player on the roster and/or draft picks may be traded during the off-season. Before trades are approved, both owners participating must pay a down payment equal to half of their $85 entry fee to ensure that they will return for the upcoming season. Click here for the complete rules -- http://www.glffl.net/kapp_rules.html -- and remember that once the ball kicks off for Week 11, the trade deadline has passed. |
