According to this rule:

4. In subsequent years, auction periods will take place on the 15th of each month throughout the year. At that time, owners will be permitted to bid on available free agents, remaining rookies and salary cap cuts, using the money they have remaining under the 180 unit salary cap. These off-season auction periods will NOT be blind bidding opportunities. Players will be awarded to owners if they maintain the high bid on that player for a period of 12 hours.

there should have been an auction period on 4/15 . . . did everyone opt not to go after any players at that time?  There should also be an auction period starting on 5/15 along with the rookie draft, correct?

Hey Bill-- You are correct that there could have been an auction date on 4-15-06 but I guess with everything else going on, no one paid attention to that fact. I can't remember in Otto Graham last year when the flurry of activity happened in the off-season but I know it revolved around Edgerrin James being dropped and everyone bidding and dropping other big names to get in on the action starting on the 15th of the month.

With the rookie round in May, it's only a draft round and not a concurrent auction round because the software won't support both actions at the same time.

Thanks and good luck!
