NEW CIFFL Update for Saturday, Jan. 31st: * WHAT'S NEW....WELCOME TO SUPER BOWL SUNDAY...the party of the year and all owners have confirmed attendance. The CIFFL Stupor Bowl festivities - including league meeting and awards ceremony are next Sunday (2/1) at the Eddy Drive headquarters after 3 pm. Our official meeting will start around 3:30. Please see the league email sent out Saturday for more info, as you will need to bring any 2004-05 proposals and should click on 'League Accounting' under reports to verify payouts and monies owed. As usual, the league and oiur champ is buying the beer (oh, have we got a surprise for you!) and guests are also encouraged to pull out the stops with a covered dish or other such party favors. The game is supposed to kick off at 5:23 pm.
* Menu Update: Gumbo, Roast pork
* IN THE CIFFL PLAYOFFS...With Bloomington and Hamel both averaging around 75 points a week we envisioned a barn-burner for the CIFFL championship...what we got was something altogether different as neither franchise made its way out of the 30's and the Hucksters scored just enough to just nudge out the Brains 38 to 32 in Week 17. CONGRATULATIONS TO YOUR 2003 CIFFL CHAMPIONS....THE HAMEL HUCKSTERS!!!
Hamel $400
Bloomington $250
Springfield $150
Valpo $100
* CONGRATS TO....Hamel becomes the first franchise to win the coveted CIFFL trophy three times! Condolences to the Brains who had a stupendous season only to run smack into a week 17 let-down; to the Homers (78 pts. this week) for the heart-breaking loss Week 16, and to Valpo (56 pts.), who's star player went south at the wrong time.
* DRAFT ORDER....Don't forget, except for the four playoff teams, the draft order is based on the REGULAR SEASON (i.e. points after week 15) finish. The order then is: 1)Rockford, 2)San Diego, 3)Johnson City, 4)Bangor, 5)Wood St., 6)Texas, 7)Chicago, 8)Manhattan, 9)Valpo, 10)Springfield, 11)Bloomington and 12)Hamel.
