JEFF WESLEY AND "CHUCKERS"
And Congratulations to all our winners:
Ross Conference Champ: Mike Fera "Blood Drive"
The Ultimate Survivor: Scott Kenney "Fear This"
Skins: Zarin Roat "Freakshow"
and, of course, Toilet Bowl IV: Matt Fera "Wide Receders"
| Week 16 |
|---|
The Matchup is set....no more rookies...no more #1 seeds....it's Chuckers versus Blood Drive. Chuckers entered the playoffs as the #4 seed, even though he held the second highest point total in the regular season, and proved his worth by shutting down Dislocators and Ghost Riders to make his first Fantasy Bowl appearance with a 10-5 record. Chuckers is powered by a high powered running game, the leagues' premiere Tight End and a set of QB's in Green and a revitalized McNabb that can rack up the points. It's rumored that owner Jeff Wesley has taken the secretly formulated Moose Juice from his successful hockey franchise, the Moose Jaw Moose, and added it to the team water bottles. Blood Drive is consistently the OFFL's star team, averaging more then 9 wins a season and is the title holder of the inaugural Fantasy Bowl. Making his second consecutive FB appearance and third in franchise history, Blood Drive hopes to be the first repeat champion in the OFFL. They already hold the dinstinction of most playoff wins in league history as well as the overall high score, set just two weeks ago destroying the old point total and knocking out a peaking Fear This team. After ending the rookie dreams of Da Cocks, Blood Drive enters FB VIII with a 11-4 record. These two teams are evenly matched when healthy. Chuckers is a 10 point favorite, but both teams can post phenomenal scores. Note that I said healthy....Blood Drive has had the explosive Clinton Portis as the powerhouse of his team...but after an ankle sprain in week 15 his status is questionable....and being that backup #1 Michael Bennett was inactive in week 15 that leaves the RB picture for Blood Drive in limbo....but it is still early in the week. BREAKING IT DOWN.... Being that it's more a "what have you done for me lately" thing in fantasy football I'll take a look at the matchup with an eye on the last 3 weeks or so....in the long run of the entire season Chuckers is favored by 10 pts...but, look at the last 3 weeks...granted, Chuckers has put up great numbers averaging 125 points a week. Blood Drive has averaged 136.3 pts per week in that time...just a fluke?...or should the 10 points be swung the other way? Here we go position by position: QUARTERBACK: Chuckers--Trent Green and Donovan McNabb....Green has averaged 24.3 pts over the last 3 weeks...McNabb 18...Green likely to get the start facing an up and down Vikings team. Blood Drive--Jeff "Hello Boys" Garcia...hot, hot, hot...(and that's not even in drag)...averaging 26.7 pts over the last 3 and an amazing 42 over the last 2 weeks...he's the hot hand...ADVANTAGE BLOOD DRIVE RUNNING BACK: Chuckers--Priest "John" Holmes, Ricky "Don't lose my number" Williams....Holmes averages 26.7 and Williams 11.7...Priest is the #1 RB in the league...top that Blood Drive--Clinton Portis and Ricky W (see above)...if Portis were healthy his 36.7 point average WOULD top Holmes...but he is a big ???....possibly an even matchup, but ADVANTAGE CHUCKERS...both share Ricky Williams so that is a wash. WIDE RECEDER: Chuckers--Darrell "Neverland" Jackson, Santana "Black Magic" Moss and Peter "Shoehorn" Warrick....Jackson and Warrick are riding hot streaks...Moss had one mid-season...as a group averaing 31 points per week Blood Drive--Terrell "Shake your Pom Pon's" Owens, Koren "Mister" Robinson, (these bad jokes really should stop), and "Top" Jimmy Smith...the Garcia to Owens connections is blowing things up...Robinson sacrificing balls to Jackson...Jimmy has been consistently very good again...over three weeks this group averages 32.3 pts...very even with Chuckers...but over the last 2 with T.O. tearing it up...SLIGHT ADVANTAGE BLOOD DRIVE TIGHT END: Chuckers--Gonzalez...Blood Drive--Heap...lots of potential for Heap but Gonzo and KC are smokin...Gozo averaging 14/week to Heaps 6.3....ADVANTAGE CHUCKERS KICKER: Chuckers--Wilkins....Blood Drive--Stover...Wilkins is on high scoring St. Louis and is averaging slightly more then Stover 12 to 9.7 per week...maybe a push?...SLIGHT ADVANTAGE CHUCKERS DEFENSE/SPECIAL TEAMS: Chuckers--Ravens....Blood Drive--Dolphins....this is EVEN So....overall...hmmm...if I gave 2 points per player at the QB, RB and WR position and 1 each for the others...I would have to score it 7.5 for Chuckers and 7.5 for Blood Drive...I can't call this one...I think this will be our best Fantasy Bowl since Fear This benched Marshall Faulk on Monday night in 2000 against Stogies (who also had Faulk) and still pulled out a 6 point win in FB V...high scoring and close.....it's a toss up! Let the league know what your opinion is on this matchup...post it in the message board....This is it! |

| We have all done it. Sometimes because we can. Sometimes because we are dying to see the last few minutes of the game. And most of the time we do it just because we are men. Presented below are some favorite male catch phrases and their likely translation: "I'M GOING FISHING" Means: "I'm going to hang out with other obnoxious men, drink myself dangerously stupid, and stand by a stream with a stick in my hand, while the fish swim by in complete safety." "JUST GOING TO HANGOUT WITH THE GUYS" Means: "Direct TV, Strippers, Nachos and Beer and you are not invited." IT'S A GUY THING" Means: "There is no rational thought pattern connected with it, and if I gave a damn I would agree it was stupid too." "I WAS LISTENING TO YOU. IT'S JUST THAT I HAVE THINGS ON MY MIND" Means: "How can I possibly listen to you and juggle my ten fantasy rosters at the same time." "TAKE A BREAK HONEY, YOU'RE WORKING TOO HARD" Means: "I can't hear the game over the vacuum cleaner." "CAN I HELP WITH DINNER?" Means: "Why isn't it already on the table?" "THAT'S INTERESTING, DEAR" Means: "She needs a hobby...She talks more than Madden" "HEY, I'VE GOT MY REASONS FOR WHAT I'M DOING" Means: "And I sure hope I think of some pretty darn soon." "UH HUH," "SURE, HONEY," OR "YES, DEAR..." Means: Absolutely nothing. It's a conditioned response. "IT WOULD TAKE TOO LONG TO EXPLAIN" Means: "I have no idea how it works." "I CAN'T FIND IT" Means: "It didn't fall into my outstretched hands and I am not going to miss the game searching for it." "WHAT DID I DO THIS TIME?" Means: "How come in real life I can't call a timeout trying to ice the wife?" "I HEARD YOU" Means: "I haven't the foggiest clue what you just said, and am hoping desperately that I can fake it well enough so that I can keep watching this game" "YOU KNOW I COULD NEVER LOVE ANYONE ELSE" Means: "I am used to the way you yell at me, and realize it could be worse." "YOU LOOK TERRIFIC" Means: "Please don't block the TV showing me another outfit." "YOU KNOW HOW BAD MY MEMORY IS" Means: "I remember every third down back in the NFL, every team that runs a 4-3 defense, but I forgot your birthday." "I WAS JUST THINKING ABOUT YOU, AND GOT YOU THESE ROSES" Means: "The girl selling them on the corner was a real babe." "YOU SHOULD GET A SWEATER LIKE THAT" Means: "I can't get enough of Melissa Stark in those sweaters." |
